Watch as Master glassblower Davide Salvadore creates a vessel in his signature Muranese style.
The Guest Artist Series features world-class visiting artists at work in the Amphitheater Hot Shop. These special, extended demonstrations provide a fascinating peek at the techniques, artistry, and improvisation that comprise contemporary glassmaking. Our own Hot Shop Demos team assists and narrates for each artist, answering audience questions in real time. www.cmog.org/p...

I've watched a few of these videos now, and hands down the person narrating this one is the one I enjoy the most. I'm watching to learn about glassblowing, and she does a fabulous job of keeping the audience engaged with all the details and knowledge she shares. Sign me, Slowly working my way through all of the videos.

Davide Salvadore is one of the greatest masters in the history of glass making. The Salvadore family extends far into the history and the founding of the Italian glass movement. A true Italian Master. To say he makes this look easy is an understatement. This is the result of multiple generations of glassblowing. Such a privilege to see.

I believe it would be a great addition to the videos if you could insert a picture of the finished piece at the end after the piece cooled of - so that the viewer nor only sees the making of the piece but also the final result.

Hi, thanks for your feedback - we absolutely try to show a shot of the piece out of the annealer, however unfortunately this piece got packed up and shipped out to the artist's studio for final coldworking before we had a chance to film it. Sorry about that!

I’ve always loved glass blowing from when I was very little. I always thought that these special people were magicians because of the beauty and wonderment of what they do. I think you are all magicians and I will always love your fine works. And that is for all glassblowers in the world. Thank you for your art and thank Corning for bringing it to the people. You rock Corning.

I could only dream of doing this my whole life. I wish I could ever get healthy enough to attend a show, I'd probably be an emotional wreck. How this comes together with vision, execution, teamwork, and the whole spirit of comradery in art, I don't think this is possible in any other medium, I've always been blown away with any glass work. Thanks for these videos.

Please review material on heavy metal leeching from lead glass/crystal. It does indeed leech into food and drink but at a gradually decreasing rate so there's some theory to 'seasoning' the glass. Anyways, I'm no expert myself which is why I come to cmog so please don't spread bum information. Awesome demo, of course, and you guys rock. Please continue to do so.

Are you asking about 18:10? The pattern is made up of glass murrine - it's heated to be applied to the bubble of glass. Here are two short videos that explain more about murrine kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3iUfaGimMh2o68 and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJaocqZ4m5yXldE. Thanks for watching!
