Watch as Guest Artist Kristina Logan partners with Museum glassworker Jeff Mack to create a glass goblet using one of Logan's signature style beads as the stem.
See the final goblets starting at 2:00:28.
The Guest Artist Series features world-class visiting artists at work in the Amphitheater Hot Shop. These special, extended demonstrations provide a fascinating peek at the techniques, artistry, and improvisation that comprise contemporary glassmaking. Our own Hot Glass Demo Team assists and narrates for each artist, answering audience questions in real time. Learn more at www.cmog.org/p...

when they combine the two types of glass. how would you determine the new CoE? I would think that if it were an equal 50/50 mix you would just average the two? IE 96 and 104 would equal a new CoE of 100?

are the marvers a solid piece of steel or is it just a skin?

They're solid and even on wheels, ones as big as that one can be difficult to maneuver around the shop. Thanks for watching!

How do you get the interior images of the furnace like that?
@corningmuseumofglass
@corningmuseumofglass 3 жыл бұрын
There's a window of fused silica in the furnace and we keep the camera outside of the furnace to look through that window. Learn more here: blog.cmog.org/2016/12/12/the-view-from-inside-the-furnace/ Thanks for watching!

Looking like it, the way it stays so pliable for so long and will drip off more like honey, really evidenced when they add AND blow glass on some of those beaded stems. Also the size of lamp flame and the speed she forming these balls it's gotta be soft.
