In a cup, stir together cornstarch and water until you have a well-mixed slurry. That's it! You'll want to use cold water to make your slurry, so that the cornstarch doesn't start to stiffen right away. This will prevent lumps from forming in your slurry. The slurry will start to thicken once you stir it into a hot liquid. After you add it, keep stirring to make sure it thickens evenly.
