Thirty plus years ago, Canada got into a spat with Spain over their fishing fleet illegally poaching on Newfoundland's Grand Banks. Cornish fishermen flew the Canadian flags on their vessels in solidarity with the Canadian fishermen. At the time (pre-9/11) I was sailing back and forth to the US a lot and usually purchasing a boatful of untaxed, inexpensive liquor there every trip. A fellow sailor on board and I were both of Cornish descent (his from Penzance, mine from Falmouth) and we vowed to ALWAYS fly the Cornish flag when we smuggled in solidarity with our kinsmen.

@@ZakSheppard-w1wfeels like it. It's a different world on the water than it used to Be. Not that I know firsthand, but I've listened to enough Stan Rogers and witnessed how technology has changed my own field.... Damned door dash... The culinary business will never be the same... I suppose the food sales are more steady now, but it feels a shame to put art into styrofoam box. That said being a great lakes child, It always was a suprise to see how quickly the ships on the water change. I still remember an old titanic looking ship that was in the Frankfurt, Elberta harbor, those kinds of ships dominated their time, but now they're mostly replaced with newer, uglier cargo ships that look like floating parking lots.

Wow ❤ came here looking to learn more about when my ancestors came from before they migrated to New Zealand 🇳🇿 in the 1860’s. St Madron is one area they came from 🙏🏼 Love my Celtic lineage 🌟🌙😎

I visit Dozmary pool often. All the myths and legends rather loose their credibility when you can see cows walking straight across in a dry summer. Its not ar all deep and very small.

You lost me right at the start when you said Dosmary pool is surrounded by flint workings. Bodmin moor where Dosmary sits is an igneous intrusion that forms the moors of Cornwall and Dartmoor. There is no chalk or flint outcrops.

That’s a shame. How did they manage to find such an abundance of flint arrowheads and hand axes there then? And chalk would not be used for such purposes as it is far too soft.

@@TheHiddenHistoryChannel Flint and chalk are synonymous. Flint nodules are found only in chalk beds. And there are no chalk beds within 100 miles of Bodmin moor. Flint tools might have been traded and found there, but the site is not surrounded by flint workings. As far as I'me aware there are no flint workings in Cornwall at all, the majority of neolithic fkint working is farther East on the South Downs of Sussex and Norfolk (where there's a lot of chalk deposits. The most famous site being Grimes graves.

They would likely have collected it from Cornwalls north coast.. there are many places that have beach flint pebbles!

Yes. I believe it! My brother has seen a 'big cat', here on the Essex/Suffolk border, while out exercising his horse. It was prowling the periphery of a disused airfield, some 20 metres away from him. He only became aware of the creature when the horse stopped, shied away and refused to go any further.Strange how some people refuse to accept the possibility.

Conish people are indigenous to Island of Britain and their langauge comes from Britonic language like Welsh, Breton and Cumbric languages. Do not you have any Celtic or British ancestory shown in the results ?

Before the 1500s Brittianas population was made up of a mixture of Roman/Britain's, Saxons (germanic) and viking Danes after centuries of invasions, so maybe your ancestors were originally from Rome, Germany or Denmark then settled in Cornwall for a few generations

It only showed up on my DNA as England and Northwestern Europe and my family came from Tintagel. I may be wrong but , maybe Cornwall didn't get a separate DNA category
