Episode 495
Jack (Arthur Leslie) locks Lucille (Jennifer Moss) out to teach her a lesson, but Annie (Doris Speed) persuades him to let her in, though he doubts her excuse of a stopped watch. Annie believes Lucille needs understanding rather than control. Hilda (Jean Alexander) desires a white wedding for Irma (Sandra Gough), something she never had. Annie reassures Lucille of the Walkers' trust. Ken (William Roache) tries to apologize to Len (Peter Adamson) for their argument but is provoked by Len's suggestion to stay silent. Lucille's colleagues resent her for boasting about her potential, as noted by the boss. Customs and Excise inspect the Rovers' cellar, taking beer samples. Annie worries about a possible tip-off regarding watered-down beer. Lucille is ostracized at Mitchell's for her arrogance but tells Len she'll rise above it. The Walkers decide to give Lucille more respect and privacy, providing her with a bedroom key. Hilda is upset by Irma's joke about eloping with David (Alan Rothwell). Ken and Len continue their bickering. Stan (Bernard Youens) is anxious about wedding costs, but David assures him they don't require a grand affair. Hilda convinces Irma that David secretly desires an extravagant wedding and encourages her to persuade him to buy No.3. Annie fears the outcome of the Customs and Excise investigation.

Thanks as always for sharing. Good scenes with Annie & Jack over Lucille. Felt sorry for Hilda wanting a big white wedding for Irma because she had nothing.

That surprised me. I Woukd have expected Annie laying down the law and Jack being all ‘nay, Annie luv’. Makes a change to see Jack coming the heavy father figure.

Did NOT realize they'd had the "Rovers waters down" storyline before! I love seeing how many arcs later are replays of these older episodes, and this one does not disappoint. Thanks for posting! Hope your holidays are great and peaceful!
