@@murphy9039 Corrie just seemed old fashioned compared to EE and Brookside at the time. Even Emmerdale was beginning to modernise (before Plane Crash, Before Name Change). Brian Park sexed up Corrie 1997 with mixed results but breathed life into it. I think 2000 was where Corrie got compelling to watch on a regular for me (Sarah's pregnancy, Martin's affair, Freshco siege)

@@Hulk2k6 2000 is when I began to switch off Corrie. Many of the storylines from that era were regarded as weak as the soap failed to compete with EastEnders. In 2004, Corrie went the opposite direction with OTT comedy storylines which many resemble something out of a bad carry on film. The Brian Park era was given some poor reviews also but I enjoyed this time Corrie was going through as it seemed to get the right balance of Comedy and Drama, the only downside was the departure of some classic characters such as Mavis, Derek and Percy.

@@murphy9039 Corrie was actually decent in 2004, EastEnders went a bit rubbish at that point, took them three Executive Producers to recover.
