With the staggering plethora of metal bands to crawl out of the woodwork in the 80's and 90's, it is especially amazing to think that Coroner achieves such a distinct sound with only three members. The combination of Tommy T. Baron's fretboard wizardry (if I may borrow a phrase from Gravy) and Ron Royce's hypersonic bass strumming (which makes one forget that there is nary a rhythm guitarist in sight) makes for a memorable, explosive combination.

CORONER - 1987 - R.I.P. - Noise N 0075-2 Ну вот - это такое старое издание, что альбом был выпущен вначале только на виниле и кассете. И только через пару лет фирма Noise выпустила компакт-диск. Первый альбом легенды швейцарского сыра(зачеркнуто) металла. Ну, так бывает, что ударник оказывается номером первым при формировании группы. Marquis Marky вначале создал рок-команду и даже записал демо, а потом что-то (всё) рухнуло, и он решил организовать метал-группу под тем же названием и логотипом. А что терять такие крутейшие наработки?)) Обязательный для музыкальной формации демо-период, где на одном артефакте - демо «Death Cult» (1986) даже спел Tom G. Warrior из Celtic Frost. Просто спел, а не был членом группы. Как это кто-то придумал позднее. Кстати, на сабжевом альбоме лирику к трэку "Spiral Dream" написал тот же T.G. Warrior. И, видимо, понеслось)) Все подмечали, что нечто общее у групп есть. Ну, взаимовлияние). Как без этого. Раскрою еще один НЕсекрет - Tommy T. Baron (гитарист, вокалист Coroner) и Marky были роуди у Celtic Frost на туре Tragic Serenades. Coroner на дебютном альбоме «R.I.P.» играют Thrash metal с небольшим влиянием одной известной группы. И это выражается в создании «качающегося» гитарного риффа (который фирменный у CF). Но Coroner не бросается в удалые эксперименты а ля Селтик. Зато вокалист слегка использует манеру певца CF. А вот Tommy T. Baron довольно-таки неплохой и своеобычный гитарист. И он любил впилить артистичного и даже техничного соляка, не особо посматривая на секундомер. И знаете, прокатывает - когда в группе три человека (третий - Ron Royce - бас, вокал). Надо же чем-то заполнять пустоту. Вот этот гитарист Tommy T. Baron и есть главное приобретение команды. Именно его солидное музицирование сделало «эффект Coroner», прославило группу на весь металлический мир. Особенно на последовавших альбомах. Местами Coroner играют вполне обычный на тот момент трэш-метал, но вот когда Baron углубляется в свои закидоны (а писал он музыку вместе с Ron Royce), то тогда появлялись техно-трешевые эпики. Причем внятные и удобоваримые для слушателя, что очень важно. Слушатель должен послушать и ПОНЯТЬ, что это круто, а не выключить проигрыватель и выкинуть пластинку. В этом смысле показателен трэк Nosferatu - гитарная неоклассика, предложенная слушателю, органична и доходчива. Слушатель говорит: ого, да я начал слушать что-то типа металлического Моцарта и ходит пол дня довольный собой. Кстати, смотрите видео. Вначале я не поверил, что это Live, думаю, наверное, записали с нескольких камер видео и смонтировали аудио с трэка. А потом ребята специально спели НЕ ТАК, как на диске. Ну это ураган, брате! 6/6

@felipe3600 Yes, they stopped producing them in the early '90s. I have one that looks exactly like Ron's (in fact, manufacturer Joe Zon said that mine could easily be his - I got it from Germany so that's not too unlikely). Its tone is really marvellous.
