Corporal Brandon Schreiber End of Watch
Corporal Brandon Schreiber succumbed to gunshot wounds he received after a vehicle pursuit on September 1, 2024.
Corporal Schreiber joined a pursuit initiated by the Iroquois County Sheriff's Office (Illinois) when the driver, who was armed, fled into Indiana. The pursuit returned to Illinois, where the suspect crashed his vehicle in Sheldon. He fired at responding officers while still inside his car, and gunfire was exchanged. Corporal Schreiber was struck and transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The suspect died at the scene.
Corporal Schreiber was later transferred to the Carle Trauma Center, where he remained on life support until his organs could be donated.
Corporal Schreiber had served with the Newton County Sheriff's Department for five years. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

Worst part is I knew him so well my step mom is a police officer and Brandon introduced his wife to my stepmom and then I met them and their kids. I was at the memorial but didn’t make it to the funeral. He will be missed.💙

Damn, Have to admit this one made my eyes water! Politicians need to start holding these repeat offenders accountable and give them serious time! This is horrible! And cities across America keep pulling funding for training, more officers, and better weapons! Prayers to his wife, family, and fellow officers of their community.

Respect. And condolences. R.I.P. our protector. You did your job, you upheld your oath, you stood your post. You deserve a rest. I was once a little boy, with a young mother and two little brothers, watching my Dad go to work as a State Trooper of Illinois (retired long ago, but still with us) each day and return when his shift was done. I cannot imagine how it would have impacted my Mother, my brothers and I were he to have fallen. Keep an eye out and check in on that family as often as possible. On top of all that they have had to endure, they must not ALSO feel left behind and alone.
