Of course, there's dozens of organizations for children and women, but a scant handful for men. Men are viewed as expendable and unnecessary by society, to not be seen or heard, never vulnerable, and never forming connections with one another in a support group through hobbies, work, or being able to relate in their struggles. Men are viewed as troublesome.

This is what happens, but the reason why it happens is because so many people are so ignorant that they actually spend more money because of said virtue signaling. So there's the other part of this lesson. The next lesson after that probably has to do with lack of corporate regulation and how it's basically legal for politicians to be bought and sold which allows companies get away with all kinds of nonsense. Which then allows them to make enough money that they wouldn't otherwise make so that they can afford to be out of touch with what most people really want.

Saddest thing about this video is it isn't even satire. This is basically it. The company I work for, like many, go out of their way to let employees and customers know when it's a day dedicated to women, but whenever it's international men's day, there's absolutely nothing. No signs, mention, etc. A co-worker of mine actually had the balls to ask HR why men's day didn't get any mention at work, and they told him "Men's day is every day. Women are underprivileged and should be acknowledged." This mindset is all too common, and as other people here have said, the ONLY time a man's mental heath matters is when he finally snaps. Until then we're told to just suck it up, or reminded that "women have it worse". Every time in my life I have EVER been abused, it's been by a woman. When I was raped by a woman, I was asked what I "must have done to provoke her". I had people assume I was gay for "not wanting it" and that I "should consider myself lucky" that a woman wanted to touch me at all. I was told that if I "didn't want it", I would have fought back, completely ignoring the reality that defending myself against a woman would have put me in prison. My city has multiple resources and shelters dedicated to women, especially dedicated to people fleeing abuse. All of these are fully funded by the federal and provincial governments. We have ONE shelter for men, and it's exclusively for homelessness, and is not for men fleeing abuse. This shelter barely manages to stay open, as it runs on donations only. They've applied for government funding, only to be denied. If you're a man, you're just expected to die on the street. There have been many times I've considered just becoming trans so that it would be easier for me to get help.

I hope you realize that sooner than later and take your power back!
@trafalgarlaw83736 ай бұрын
Sad to hear about the shit you went through. Nothing on that. For the rest though, a lot of this shit comes from men too. Men are the ones that push those ideas of masculinity more than women do, whether it be keeping everything in, mocking people for being gay when they do something kind, or the rape comments you described. There's indeed a massive disparity in the support for the stuff you mention, it sucks. Men have had complete advantage for like all of history, but now there's actual big parts where it's worse. Difficult to fix, since those are based often on empathy. Women and kids are seen as more helpless, so there's less empathy for the grump looking adult man than a cute girl.
@diamond42706 ай бұрын
Why would men need an international men's day? You do realize that it's not a mens thing right? R_pe victims being gaslighted and blamed has ALWAYS been a thing, and women have been fighting it forever, don't forget that. I found out about Men's Mental Health Awareness Month last year. This year, I've made an effort to check on my boyfriend's health this month and my older brother. Letting them know if they need to vent or be heard I'm hear for it.
@therebellion966 ай бұрын
The fact that they have to make a month to remind men and basically say "Hey, y'all need take care of yourselves", should let you know just how low on the list of men's priorities mental health has been from the start. If this is real, this is news to me.
@frankfoster51576 ай бұрын
It’s not necessarily that men don’t prioritize their own mental health it’s when they try to turn to someone about their issues most people don’t really care to listen or help, it’s harder than it should be to find someone to care just a little about a man’s mental health so they usually just keep it within.
@publiusventidiusbassus12326 ай бұрын
Literally every single group that tries to highlight men's issues gets labeled as a radical mysoginist hatemob Tate fanatic or something. Its impossible to get a conversation going when just bringing up the topic gets you marked as persona non grata. And then people are surprised when there are so many incels - that's what happens when depressed, lonely, aimless young men are not allowed to have a healthy outlet or support network: they either bottle it up and become another emotionally emasculated man just counting days to die, or they go off the deep end and start hurting innocent people, specially women.
@vifcole6 ай бұрын
@@frankfoster5157 ding ding ding. We always see the mantra of "men, you gotta be willing to speak out about your own issues if you want change. Destigmatize male emotion! See? The patriarchy hurts men too!" but then when men do speak out it's always those same people seething about crocodile tears or male privilege or some bs. That's why you just get away from the drama on the internet if you really want to recalibrate. Some people hate just to hate, no matter what you do.

Men need more attention. Everyone thinks all women are the victims of things like: S/A, domestic abuse/violence, sv!c!d3, ect, but those can happen to men aswell, in fact I think since people think it doesn't matter because they're MEN and they have that tough stereotype, it's becoming more common in only men. We need to get these men some help. Also, not just women would kts over dysmorphia. Seeing those TV stars, those Barbie and Ken ahh people, that can happen to men.
@snowmorgan41156 ай бұрын
Also dysmorphia can actually be for no really outlining cause. Very least I haven't discovered why mine is and it wasn't the gorgeous people either. I just became very uncomfortable in my own skin one day and don't like looking in the mirror as it doesn't even seem like me 🤷 guess that's a bit of dissociation added into it though
@mynamesnotshanekid8136 ай бұрын
Patriarchy also helps to perpetuate the notion that all men need to never show weakness or emotion, as it's regarded as feminine. The same goes for the notion that men don't get SA'd or that men enjoy SA or r@pe from women. The stereotype that men are sexual beasts that crave any form of sexual activity is horrid and also perpetuated by the patriarchal society that we still live in. To tackle the problem of the dehumanization of men, we must first dismantle these stereotypes so that we can see each other as human beings with human struggles.

@PhoenixWrightAceAttorney6 ай бұрын
I don't really want a whole month dedicated to my mental health. It seems unnecessary imo. Being reminded how I am every now and again, even just a little, is better than nobody remembering until the month of June rolls around. I read the comments, and it seems like most people were unaware of a men's mental health month. It doesn't need to be dedicated to a single month for profit (which companies don't even do anyway), when all it takes is a quick check-up on your loved ones every few days. I apologise if this comes across as selfish, but I'm not any more special than I was a couple of days ago just because the month changed. A quick check-up is much nicer than a huge parade for one month, which everyone will forget about later.

it was the other way around. pride month was celebrated in 1970 and then on after the 1969 stonewall uprising, even though the bill was only put in place in 1999 it was always celebrated in June since 1970. the bill for men mental health awareness was only put in place and "celebrated" in 1994. so feel free to argue against men mental health month for being put on top of pride month but I'm sure you don't mind at all when it's that way around

@@fein-z9black or compassion in @@fein-z9b
@AccidentalH3ro5 ай бұрын
@@fein-z9b I actually don’t care about which came first. My concern is about the current state and overall health and wellbeing of men and boys in general (particularly heterosexual minority men & boys) in a society which makes it nearly impossible for them to be appreciated without being bombarded with subtle misandry and overt emasculation in every crucial stage of their would-be masculine development- whether it be through media, academia or in the sociopolitical sphere. People want to complain about so-called, “toxic masculinity” when it serves their interests and agenda but don’t even want to acknowledge that they’re contributing to its proliferation. Not because men are inherently “toxic” but because society prizes men, especially heterosexual men as disposable utilizes and sociopolitical eunuchs for everyone else. So yes, I think Men’s Health Month is vastly more important to the wellbeing of society, especially Western society because when the next generation of men come into position of managerial power, they’re going to reflect on the compassion that wasn’t afforded to them and offer the same lack of compassion in return.
