Fun fact: much of corpse bride was based on WWII Holocaust stuff. Emily was based on an anarchist leader who was hung. When she was asked to rat out her comrades in return for being spared death, she said ‘you’ll know them when they come to avenge my death,’. Emily was also based on a neurodivergent person who played piano to cover the sound of hiding people escaping. Don’t believe me? Look at the lyrics of this and tears to shed. The anarchist I mentioned’s name was Lepa Radic. She had on the clothes she was captured in. So “I made a vow within my gown that love would come for me,” takes a whole knew meaning.
