When shooting a firearm you should always use the pad of your finger to slowly squeeze the trigger back. Not full wrap and definitely don't jerk. I'm not much of a bow guy so maybe it's different. I know how to shoot a gun tho.

As a firearms instructor, I can tell you that you DO NOT want a "full wrap" with your trigger finger. This will cause you to pull unevenly into the trigger. The uneven pull will cause right-handed shooters to shoot left, and vice versa. He is correct that you should pull straight back on the trigger.

I just shoot. My trigger is so light you just barely touch it and it goes off. It took me a while to get used to it. But I like it. Just line up the shot and bump it. Alot more accurate. I went to traditional archery. That made my compound a no brainer. I would encourage everyone to try it. It increased my shooting by alot. I have broken more knocks with traditional than I every did with a compound. Now putting arrows dead on and know when I pull off with compound. Get lots of practice and make shure you have a good anchor point.

I’ve never really understood the idea of pulling with your back muscles to release the shot. Your finger and back muscles are separate you can use your back muscles without your finger. You have to use your finger to break the shot. Scientifically speaking the muscle groups are separate.

Ummm…. I was always taught to use the pad of my finger tip and never to wrap my finger around a trigger. What you are saying is wrong, I don’t mean to be rude, but I feel like it would be a disservice to allow you to continue teach bad shooting technique. Here is a real question though, if I have a trigger release that is such a hair trigger you barely touch it and it foes off, is that bad? I shoot 3” groups at 30 yards with that release, but maybe if there was more tension I wouldn’t ruin so many arrows and fletching.
