Is there any National or Intl code of practice for testing EC
@sitharadassanayaka960310 ай бұрын
Sir i want to know how to do darin analysis .beacuse i planted plants in polytunnel by using cocopeat and need to check Ec can you help me
@gabrielillo79 Жыл бұрын
Hi, great video. What humidity % does the100 ml cocopeat sample that you use have? And if hydrated, then what water type your use to hydrate it before starting the test?

Sir what can I do if pH of cocopeat is around 7.4 how to reach this upto 6
@samuelbaladad4295 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I was wondering if the coco peat that you used as a sample in taking EC & pH parameters was previously buffered.
@TheGeekgardener Жыл бұрын
The cocopeat I used wasnt buffered. Buffered cocopeat is quite expensive in India and is preferred only for certain commercial projects. one can always do the buffering themselves, if required.

Really informative as always ! Do you have a guide on how to this for rockwool medium ?
@TheGeekgardener2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words. Rockwool medium is relatively more inert than cococoir and not so brittle / powdery like cocopeat. This makes it a lot easier to measure its EC ( which is infact the solution EC the rockwool is saturated with). Over time the rockwool slab can get salt accumulation which can be measured by inspecting the drain EC. I dont have rockwool with me. I will try and see if we can make a video in future.

What if the water used to mix is ph 6.5? I want to test ph.

My question seems stupid 🙈 sorry for that ... Can i use the TDS meter to check the EC conductivity and use any chart conversion table to check the EC level ?
@TheGeekgardener2 жыл бұрын
Totally valid question. Yes you can use the TDS meter and convert it as per the factor provided by the manufacturer of the TDS meter.

What to do if the ph value of coco peat is 8.5? How to bring it down to 7?

A small request: plz make a video about how to make a stock solution for ec and ph calibration. Ph calibration pouches are available in market or online but ec is a tough nut to be sure of. Plz try providing a solution for that in upcoming videos if possible.
@TheGeekgardener2 жыл бұрын
Atul, if i understand right, you are asking you the buffer solutions for calibrations correct?. pH 4, pH 7 and EC buffer solutions? I will definitely make a video. Thanks for the suggestion 🙌
@atulagarwal55142 жыл бұрын
@@TheGeekgardeneryou got my point sir. Ph buffer solutions like 4 and 7 are available. But as far as i know, nothing is available for ec calibration. Plz share share some light as to how we can make accurate ec calibration solutions at home or where to buy... Thanks for the quick replies sir. Appreciate your efforts. 👍

After harvesting, if small roots get left in cocopeat, does that technically increase carbon content in cocopeat?
@TheGeekgardener2 жыл бұрын
It does increase. Cocopeat as a growing medium also compacts over time. The older roots will disintegrate in few weeks.
@atulagarwal55142 жыл бұрын
@@TheGeekgardener thank you for your valuable replies sir. Love your videos. The practical essence in it really makes them valuable. Plz keep uploading to make us beginners more knowledgeable.

Why we are measured ec, ph of cocopeat
@atulagarwal55142 жыл бұрын
Hello sir. Supposedly i have harvested a plant and now i want to use the same cocopeat again in another plantation. How do i seperate the cocopeat from the roots that are left in the cocopeat after harvest???
@TheGeekgardener2 жыл бұрын
Atul, If the cocopeat is in a opentop grow bag, its a lot easier to remove and take out the old roots ( or even simply let to dry). but in a closed grow bag(like the slabs), its very difficult to remove the old roots. Its a practice to plant the new ones next to where the old ones were cut off. Anyways beyond two crops, the media is recommended to be changed.
