Will do. Under normal (stock) setups the first tooth of the sector gear engages the piston at roughly 1:30. That means there is a lot of un-needed force on that first tooth of the piston since it is pulling the whole spring on one tooth for a few millimeters. The starting energy of a cycle is also the most demanding and for all of that force to be on the pick-up is bad. So the purpose of correcting AoE is to aid the piston and act as a spacer so the sector can engage at roughly 12:00...Continue

@Mjarf88 Great. I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for commenting.

@Juzh123. If you don't remove piston teeth accordingly you won't have proper AOE. What you gain is proper AOE and thus your gears, piston and motor will last longer, way longer.

I use all SHS parts though I would not recommend this particular piston from SHS. I broke 5 of these pistons. If you are gonna get a shs piston I would recommend the blue nylon all metal tooth piston. Love that one.

It's probably a polycarbonate piston. It's certainly not a metal piston, this piston is almost clear. I have a Classic Army blue piston w/ a full metal tooth rack, short stroked 1 tooth, with a G&G ported polycarbonate piston head, pulling an AMP 120 spring in my KWA M4. Works great!

What thickness of pad did you use? 1/8th inch?

Continue......so that there is less stress on the pickup and evenly spread out through the first couple of teeth. Before this idea became popular people would constantly snap off the pickup tooth of the piston. This helps that to not happen....Numbers in post below apply to hand positions on a clock and not times in the video.

i'm working on correcting the aoe of one of my gearboxes. the website where I am ordering sorbo pads is suggesting 40d sorbo's. in your opinion, is 40d too soft? I read somewhere else that 40d might not reshape itself fast enough between shots. is that correct?
@zombiedfdf11 жыл бұрын
could i put the sorbo on a plastic piston head ?
@kevin7112712 жыл бұрын
2 questions: if i plan on running a high compression setup with an m140 spring, how much fps drop will i get from the sorbopad? Also, wouldn't removing the two teeth jeopardize the grip that the sector gear's teeth has on the piston?

@RCVAirsoft Vaaaat? Aaahhhhhh ... okaaay. You make a good point. Please add more details in comment and I shall post it in the description. Having said that ... have a good day.

Hey buddy, great video!! bty I also tech guns and its great to see well made how to videos. but heres a tip i always do, I always cut the frist tooth off, and only half of the second tooth, I feel it helps with heavy spring, because I usually run m140 spring, i wear out the engagment gear at the back if I have both teeth removed. anyways still a great video

Dude your video is hilarious. Overall it was great but I think you should mention the idea behind it. As in you're taking stress off the pickup "toot" of the piston :P

you don't necessarily have to grind both of them flat.. it wouldve been okay at halfway.. or shave 1st tooth completely off and second tooth halfway. (airsoft player since 99')

I don't buy it...it decreases the volume of air to be compressed by the thickness of the pad...you loose velocity
@callsigngecko47235 жыл бұрын
But it saves your gearbox. If you want more velocity fix the airseal or get a stronger spring but fps doesn't always effect range or accuracy.
