Clubfoot is a congenital deformity that involves one foot or both. The affected foot appears to have been rotated internally at the ankle. Clubfoot is treatable through the Ponseti Method. In the following animation the Ponseti Method is explained in a way to help parents understand the process. I am not afraid of step 1 (casting) and step 3 (bracing) but i am afraid of tenotomy which is step 2..may I know what is the demerits of not having tenotomy...?

why do we maintain thigh in Abduction when correction of club feet ?

To stretch and provide full range of motion in the ligaments and tendons before hard contracture set in. Additionally babies naturally outward (adbuct) position of the foot and knees in preperation crawling and walking. The final stages of development, when a child begins walking with feet only partly abducted, originates from the thigh muscles. Without the early over correction of the foot posotion there is not enough ligament tissue to perform the corrective surgery for the ponsetti method or to account for scar tissue and contracture following the post operative phase of treatment.

you probably had the Turco surgery. ( take it with a grain of salt, i am not an expert but it's the one where they use a wire )
