I really appreciated not only Perry's expertise, but also his really great sense of humility. Not only did he repeatedly point out how certain things were not HIS accomplishments but rather that of the team's, and how grateful he was to work with them, etc, but if you notice he also starts to say "he's going to be working with me again" at one point and he IMMEDIATELY catches himself and rephrases to "I'm going to be working with him again". This is clearly a fellow who values duty and respect, so respect to him in return 👍. Awesome episode as always guys, I'll take a note out of Perry's book, here, and express my own appreciation for you guys and the great content you consistently create and provide for us 🙏 good health to you all.

You guys should check out the work of Jean-Paul Belmondo. He was basically Tom Cruise in the 70s and 80s, doing most of his own stunts, some of them pretty wild. He transferred from a speedboat to a helicopter in Venice (Le Guignolo), from a helicopter to a plane (Animal), hung off a cable stretched across two buildings in Brasília (That Man From Rio), filmed a chase scene in real traffic in Athens (The Burglars), ran across some rooftops and then a subway train in Paris (Fear Over the City) and in general did all manners of dangerous stuff for the entertainment of the French masses. And we love him for it.

Wow!!! J.J. Perry is an absolute legend in the stunt's world! He and Larnell Stovall were the coreographers behind Undisputed 2 and 3, and he had suit up as Mortal Kombat characters in Annihilation and Conquest years before. You guys should invite him more often! HE means absolute business!!!

Day Shift does look great, I've never even heard of it. But yeah, the vietnam vet chopper pilots, they were not only amazingly skilled but had zero fs to give. Some of those chopper stunts in the 70s and 80s were incredible

Perhaps the definitive 70s car stunt would be the 'corkscrew' bridge jump from THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. Surprisingly sophisticated, involving early computer visualization and a specialized build for the car itself.

The corckscrew bridge stunt was in Live and Let Die. An amazing stunt ruined by a slide whistle sound effect. But the Moore era Bond movies would be a great place to go for some pretty nice stunts from the 70's and early 80s.

This isn’t 70s but it’s a fascinating period between practical and digital. What about an episode on True Lies? So many insane stunts, and also Digital Domain’s first film. How did they get the shot of Arnold swimming under fire? And the shot of him rescuing JLC from the limo? Among many many other insane practical stunts and innovative CGI. Love the show!

If you want stunt examples from the 70s, I highly recommend The Stunt Man, its 1980 but its not only a tight psychological thriller, but its got some great stunts AND shows how some were done

All of the Hal Needham/Burt Reynolds movies had those classic car stunts or barroom brawls. Burt Reynolds directed a movie set in Atlanta called Sharkey’s Machine which boasted a record stunt fall from the Hyatt Regency Downtown.

The Rundown just isn't very well remembered (it came out 20 years ago don't forget), I wouldn't say underrated. Underrated means that people are underselling how good the movie is en masse. No one talks about it anymore though, so it can't be underrated. I think pretty much everyone who does remember The Rundown likes it. It's got an average of 6.6/10 on IMDB out of 109,000 votes, that's pretty great for an action comedy.

If you're doing car stunts, the original Italian Job's final chase scene features some neat stunt work. Not high octane by any measure, but some really clever stuff, and they got to shoot in places you wouldn't expect them to get permission to.

I'm rewatching some TNG/Deep Space 9 recently and I've noticed that some of the fight choreography is surprisingly well done. Kira Nerys' scenes come to mind. I know its a long shot but if you were able to do breakdowns of those? Theres a great shot where a cardassian gets hit with a phaser and really sells the impact of the shot, especialy since the phaser effect is completely post production.

Stunt from 1955: Check out "The Court Jester" and the final swordfight scene. It uses a lot of classic sword stunts with very little safety measures and some amazing acting as well.

There's some insane car stunts in Hooper (1978). I think you may have covered one of them in a previous episode. But there's a bunch of other stuff you should check out. Even the scene at the beginning where a bunch of stunt guys are in a caravan together bumping in to each other on the freeway. It's pretty crazy.

There's this amazing helicopter chase in this b-horror action film from the 80's called Nightmare at Noon. Two helicopters playing a game of cat and mouse, and its honestly amazing to see. Whole movie has some awesome stunts, but that chase stands out.

There are some glorious stunts in the "Silverstreak". One of my favorite is the Gene Wilder double jumping from the locomotive to the carriage he just disconnected while hanging on the outside almost on the track. That's just before the train craahes into the station.

Wild, out-of-control 1970s car chases were what I grew up watching - you need to check out the insanity of "Race with the Devil" (Jack Starrett, 1975), "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" (John Hough, 1974), "The Driver" (Walter Hill, 1978), and two deadset Aussie action classics - the original "Mad Max" (George Miller, 1979) and the iconic "The Man from Hong Kong" (Brian Trenchard-Smith, 1975), which has crazy martial arts, crazy aerial work, crazy motorbike work, helicopters, hang-gliders... you name it. Aussie exploitation action films are treasure trove of content for "Stuntmen React". There's a whole episode to be found once you tap that vein.
