You did this only with the jd xi alone? If you are, I don't how your getting some of those sounds, you must be layering them on a daw or something, but if not, that's pretty damned great. I make hip hop, cinematic, and all kind of stuff, but not this genre too much. This is you though man. And the retro sun shit is a great vibe too, with it. I can tell that most, if not all the sounds are from the jd xi, and you know how to put them together to sound really nice. Your only one of a few on here that actually inspire me with the jd xi, because no one ever put too much time into it like we have, but you can get some really nice stuff out of just this unit.

Thanks for the kind words. All the sounds are from the JD-Xi and it was all record straight from the machine to the computer with no additional layers added. All the voices are presets too. V1: Syn Sniper [strings/pad] V2: FilterEnvBs1 [Bass] Drums: 707&727 Kit2 Synth: PortaSaw Ld1

Hey ghost stalker, could you please try to explain to me how in the world you save your patterns into a laptop or what? All of my patterns have been filled for months now. I tried like 4 times to hook it up usb and so what it says to do, but how or where can I save the patterns and actually play them so I know that I saved them, so I don't erase my work? How do you do it in detail, if you could please take the time to describe this or have any options, I want to make more beats so bad, but can't because I don't have anymore pattern spot? Thank you man, I'd really appreciate it. Sounds crazy, but I don't know much about laptops because I always messed with gear only. Thanks again.

I haven't tried backing up my data yet. But page 14 of the manual breaks down what you will need to do in order to back them up here is a link to the JD-Xi Manual - static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/JD-Xi_eng06_W.pdf You can only play the file types through the JD-Xi so you might just want to test it with one pattern. Try backing it up to the computer and then restoring that file back on the JD-Xi to make sure it all works before dumping or deleting anything else.

Love this! I've just bought a Roland Jd Xi & have no experience with synths - your videos are really helpful

If you take the time and effort, you can make some really nice stuff on this thing, but the menu diving is a little much sometimes, but once you get to know it, and you get in the hang of using the shift button and other short cuts, it's not too bad. The sounds that are nice, they are really nice, and you know, just like with anything else, it comes with some cheesy, not so great sounds, but it is well worth the 500 dollars. I can use the drum kits in the future and there are so many on there, the 808, 909, EDM kits, hip hop and more. Yes, there are better things, but this is kind of in a rare league of it's own, and not too many peo people are rocking out with their's like me and ghost stalker does. I only have one beat on this channel, I haven't started my music channel yet though because I still need a audio recording device, instead of the little speaker that I have right now. It doesn't sound too great playing it live on my phone, but I will have a bunch of music in the near future and very soon. Best to you man.
