Phelan is guilty not Anna

They say that Eileen and Andy were the people who knew Phelan better than anyone else, but it was Anna and Gary who knew Phelan from start to finish. Anna Windass was most particularly the case. Pat Phelan has tormented her on countless occasions. He raped Anna He blackmailed her son He sexually harassed Anna He destroyed her relationship with the man she loved as her future husband He caused her family and Owen's family to undergo financial bankruptcy to the point of having debt problems He manipulated one of Anna's closest neighbours into becoming she is the villain and he is the victim of their history He terrorized her neighbourhood and closest friends to the point of killing three of them along with his own partner-in-crime during that time He framed Anna for GBH and even tried to turn her own daughter against her at the time as well as successfully getting her sent to prison for five years even though she was eventually exonerated just months later So suffice to say Anna knew Phelan better than anyone else because she is the one suffered the most. Perhaps that is a debate given that Andy suffered a much horrific fate, but Anna's' ordeal from Phelan just felt constant in a way how Laurie endured Michael back in Halloween. And so when the time for Phelan's comeuppance finally came, Anna had to be the one who killed him - partially to get revenge for everything he did to her but mainly to stop him from hurting anyone else, her family and neighbourhood all over again.
