Been seeing these guys live since 1985. They can play any genre.
@drumstudiomonchengladbach81312 жыл бұрын
So why do they sound like a cheap copy of Black Sabbath?
@shovington672 жыл бұрын
@@drumstudiomonchengladbach8131, I can tell when someone doesn't like heavy music, or bothers to look into the history of a band. COC is one of only a few bands that pioneered the HARDCORE genre of punk rock and heavy metal. Formed in the early 80's, the 40 year old band had a hardcore break out album called Anomosity in 1985, and has toured the world non stop since that time. They opened for Metallica for nearly 18months, on the strength of there Grammy Nominated Album WiseBlood (1996). If you care to listen to their catalog, you'll find that they aren't a Black Sabbath clone as you've stated, the album America's Volume Dealer comes to mind, and songs like Stare to Long come to mind as fairly radical departures from Black Sabbath. COC is much heavier than Black Sabbath by any stretch of the imagination, and they're much more diverse than the Ozzy/ Bill Ward era of Black Sabbath. Personally, I believe the best offerings from Sabbath are with Ronny James Dio as singer (Heaven and Hell/ Mob Rules). Certainly the lyrical content of COC is far removed from Black Sabbath's witches and warlocks, swords and sorcery, mystical themes, etc. So, I think your criticism is not well founded, and bands like Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Green Lung, and Orchid are much more Black Sabbath influenced that COC has ever been. But as true heavy metal originators, you will,find a bit of Sabbath in all heavy metal, and nobody complains about that.
@drumstudiomonchengladbach81312 жыл бұрын
@@shovington67 I agree with your comment on Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio, but in my opnion EVERY singer BS had after Ozzy was better. Regarding Bill Ward, he is a great drummer too!

I can remember once these two smoking hot broads came up and interrupted both myself and Reed back on the Deliverance tour in midst conversation about something; I’m there thinking “Okay. so much for taking anymore with him, right?’ Nope. To my surprize he said very politely that it’d been kinda rude to do this while he’s trying to talk to his friend and then afterwards invited me onto their bus where I’d meet the entire crew; all of whom were extremely cool even Pepper had less attitude. My fondest memories of a 207 year old kid I’d never had known if he wasn’t such a decent human being. And one other thing I should add is the’87 tour in the West Coast just a few years earlier would’ve consisted of my soon to be band; Dr. Know ( Kyle’s) and Corrosion Of Conformity’s Technocracy Bill in which my late friend/ 🎤 McCarthy was actually getting the gig for new lead vox. Cuz Simon Bob was on the outs with this band ( whether he knew it or not); but Ugly Americans had been on the scene for a bit & he’d been lucky enough to get a chance to go out West. John almost came to blows with him he’d been such an asshole, but after the Tour my buddy’s trying to figure out how to raise a lousy $42 to get down to N.C. and of course nobody’s got it, right? I know it truly pissed 😤 my friend off even if we were all doing okay at the time. Reed was like holding the spot for McCarthy while making excuses as to why he’ll be late, but he did everything in his power that he could until they had to make a decision on him and got Karl Agell from School Of Violence in the end whose time was nil once Pepper came into the act so in retrospect; perhaps he had been better off with us? I’ll never forget that time Reed took me on his 🚎 tho’ Cuz most folks wouldn’t give 2 shits and get a 3-way. Not him though; and obviously he very well could have in a min. Sad 😞 to hear about his passing: especially him of all people walking around doing 💩 Sincerely, DJP ex PostMortem and Kilslug Boston Massachusetts USA Amerikkka 🇨🇳 eventually 🏳️?

Fuckin’ typos!! I meant 27 years old; obviously not 207. Kk xoxo 💋 Sincerely, DJP
@deanpesaturo64012 жыл бұрын
Okay see my above comment on my bff/vox and how he missed the opportunity to become the lead singer of COC after touring with both them & Dr Know back in 1987; if only he had been able to raise a lousy $42 for a bus ride down South whilst Reed Mullin was holding his spot in place of that asshole Simon Bob’s soon to be firing by the band themselves. Like I said , if it’d happened then I would never be in PostMortem though. I guess that’s an amazing thing for me, but it just goes to show how decent of a person Reed Mullin was. One of the most underrated drummers in all styles of the art; whether it’d been Punk and Hardcore Or if they decided to play in a Sabbatical vein? They’ve still got it in spades ♠️ Sincerely yours, DJP ex PostMortem; Anal Cunt and Kilslug Boston Massachusetts Amerikkka of course
