(A topic brought up late in the video, on food costs.) Why does McDonald's have to charge so much for their food? Potatoes have not gone up so much that you need to charge such outrageous prices for fries. Every day you can get 5 lbs of potatoes for under $5. Sure, labor has gone up, but the labor for fries is minimal. Likewise, sure, beef has gone up, but enough to justify the cost of a McDonald's hamburger? I don't get special prices on hamburger like I'm sure McDonald's does, but I live in a major US city and I regularly buy ground beef from the supermarket for about $3 a pound. At Costco, they sell for $5 a pound. So let's call it $4. Yet the McD Quarter Pounder costs upward of $6, like 5x the cost of the most expensive ingredient. This makes no sense. Where are all of the extra costs coming in? Because it's not labor or food costs. I assume the prices are high because they can *get away with it,* probably because of welfare / EBT cards. So that one story brought up in the video is false; McDonald's doesn't need a subsidy from Coke to offer a $5 meal ... and BTW, that doesn't make any sense anyway, that Coke would do that. So I call shenanigans. There's some stinky bullstuff going on. I am convinced that this is govt intervention creating bad outcomes by incentivizing greed. Something that SCOTUS has repeatedly complained about, basically saying that the other branches need to do their jobs and stop sending them crap. Simultaneously, people say that only the courts can interpret the Constitution. Which is it? This will get messy if SCOTUS makes an unconstitutional ruling, and people say "we can read the Constitution, and I'm going to keep my rights, thank you!" SCOTUS is the last branch that people have any respect for. If the people stop recognizing SCOTUS, we're up a creek. We get to call anyone we want to say anything they want relevant or not to the case but you can only call who we approve. How can any thinking human see this and not understand it's rigged? The problem is that if the jury comes back with not guilty, the judge has every right to ignore them and find him guilty. This is a circus of a trial.
