​@@bbbruh8809 honestly not good. I went thru months upon months of work. Built all our own stuff. Nothing was working correctly. Redid it all, tried again. Still couldn't get it running efficiently. Finally bit the bullet and bought a new MG150 wire plant.

Nice screen. A very good prototype. It's probably about time with all your research that you've put into to try to produce a commercial product. Go to one of the companies and show, after you've applied for patents. There's a lot of scrappers out there who'd love one of those machines.

Nice work in your recycling. If you only ever scrap wire would be a lot easier to keep wires full length and just make an automated wire stripped couple of blades opposing each other with a couple of pin wheel rollers to feed and pull it through. Not sure if spring tension would do all sizes of wire but wouldn't be hard to make it adjustable.

Yes wire strippers are good if you have long lengths of thick wire but I mostly do wiring looms from cars.car looms are mostly made from short and thin wires.Granulation is a lot quicker, but if I did not have a granulator I would strip wire by hand. The only thing I wouldnt do is weigh it in with the insulation still on. Thanks for your comment.

Sir..i am your great admirer from leicester..i too am spending a lot time on research..first i have made a water stirrer to get copper from bottom but it contains some impurities of wire with copper settling at bottom, and cant afford drying of plastic and copper, natural drying makes copper dark..i tried vibrating screen but it also gives some impurity and production is so slow bcas wire keeps tangling in screen after few minutes..as well as noisy for backyard project..tried to put a fan under vibrating screen to get plastic one side but no result..finally i am trying it by eddy current on conveyor belt but particles are too small to induce eddy current, i am trying both eithe repel it by henz law or attract it by Leoanrd R. crow theory of magnetise non ferrous metal.thats the only way to separate all steel, brass, plastic and copper in one operation.. i can now separate steel impurity.. can i meet you sometime with my project plz..thx.

sounds like you have been busy trying a lot of things,I too have tried dry separation but found it harder and more complicated than water separation,you need to design your system taking into account,how much space you have,how much noise you can make,what type of wire you want to separate,how many kilo of wire you want to produce per year. My system is designed for car looms to be separated at home in my garage,I did not want it to take up a lot of floor space so I designed it to fit up against one wall. The water separation I use washes all the small particles and dirt away and most of the larger pieces of plastic away,when I remove the copper from the aluminium tray I leave the water running and drag the copper up to the black plastic part of the water chute which gives it a final clean before removal. The copper is now put on the drying trays(look at my drying video),this year from late spring onwards I have used the larger trays in my garage just stacked next to the door to get the sunlight and breeze and by the end of this year I will have dried about 900 kgs of copper granules without spending any money on heating. Yes your right the vibrating screen is noisy and slow,so i will be trying to improve it in the future,but this year it has done a good job removing the larger pieces of plastic and dust to make clean copper granules. Could you tell me what size screen you are using in your granulator and what type of wire you are doing? make a video and post it on youtube it would be a lot easier to give you advice if I could see your system.

Hello Todd,most of the copper I do is from cars which is thin wire,so maybe my setup will not work as well on different sizes of wire?But my granulator screen size is 2.5mm and my vibrating screen size is 1.5mm.My advice is to watch as many videos as you can and keep asking questions to get as much info as you can.One thing is for sure! on my system is that all the different parts are like a team,all the members of the team play and work together and if they all work together,you will get a good result.You cant just expect one part of your team to play on there own and win.My team starts with the Granulator,water sluice,water filter,drying the copper and then the vibrating screen.hope this helps and your welcome to ask as many questions as you want.

thtas a cool alternative to a water sluece and could be used easily in winter. your idea of an off center weight. do you think one on a box fan would work well as the base?

Hello Ken,yes it could be an alternative to a water system but I think it needs more development,at the moment the water system has a better yield.I like my fan to be separate from the vibration and movement.The next thing I want to try is,instead of using the noisy vibrating table,run the screen backwards and forwards on rollers powered by a recip saw and I think that would make it quieter.Have you got any suggestions for what you would like to see in future videos? How does it work? Aren't the copper granulates and the plastic the same size?

Hello Kurt, I use a 2.5mm screen in the Granulator so we can say that the granules are from 0.2 mm to 2.5mm. This vibrating screen has now got a hole size of 1.5mm so any granules above 1.5mm will go back through my system. Also this vibrating screen has air blown up through the screen so imagine you have two granules the same size,one is plastic and one is copper. The copper granule will be heavier, the air blowing up through the holes will be strong enough to stop the plastic falling through the holes but the copper granule will be heavy enough to fall through the holes, also even if the plastic granule is bigger, it will have more surface area so it will be affected more by the air just like the wing on an airplane.Hope this helps and thanks for your question.

Well water separation is not the fastest,maybe you need to look at dry separation.

Hi,I mostly save the copper granules that I produce as an investment,but I have sold some to a scrap yard that also granulates and makes there own ingots.Its just the same as selling any scrap,you need to find a yard that gives you the best price.The trouble with making ingots is that you lose weight through oxidisation and it costs money for the fuel and furnace.Scrap yards will be suspicious of what is in the ingot,although they do seam to sell for a good price on ebay.Yes I have more videos so have a look and thanks for your comment.

Hello,Its not something I have tried but if they are both the same size the copper will be heavier so you could have a screen like this one I have that blows air up through the holes that is strong enough to stop the alluminium from falling through the holes but not strong enough to stop the copper from falling through the holes.The other way I have seen is with a fast moving conveyor belt and when the granules shoot of the end the heavier metal will "fly" further than the lighter metal.Thanks for your comment.

Hi,most of the copper is very thin,about 0.2mm thick so it will easily pass through the 1mm holes in the screen and slides down and out of the lower chute into the clean copper bucket but the bigger pieces of plastic insulation are more than 1mm so they stay on the top of the screen and come out the higher chute into the waste bucket. The air is pumped up through the screen to stop the dust from falling down through the screen,hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

Hello,no I have never timed how long it takes to granulate the copper but its one of the most asked questions,so I do intend to make a video showing how long it takes and all the factors that can affect the speed of production.Most of the wire I do is from cars so I dont see hardly any aluminium wire,so I dont have any experience with it but as far as I know aluminium is very abrasive and I would be worried about the damage it could cause to the granulator blades and internal parts compared to the financial gain because aluminium is worth a lot less than copper.

@@corsagafa yes, it can be abrasive, but I believe if the blades are made from hardened steel, they will handle it just fine. Is the wire from cars the fine hair like wire? If so, it will be like the computer wire I deal with. So should work just fine. Keep up the great work and look forward to more video's.

@@urbanprospector3007 yes the wire from cars is thin,around 0.2mm.I do get thinner wire from the car relays but I dont take the risk of it getting washed away.The whole idea of gravity separation is to chop the wire small enough so that the metal and the plastic granules are the same size so you can exploit the difference in weight ,copper is dense so is easy to separate from the lighter plastic.Its not going to be the same for aluminium hair wire,even if you can chop it small enough the aluminium and plastic granules weight will be about the same or the plastic could even be heavier than the aluminium which would make it hard to separate.please let me know how you get on.

Hello,I have not weighed the bucket but one litre of copper granules weighs 3.6 kilo,so 1 US gallon=3.78 litres ,so if my maths are correct then 1 US gallon weighs 13.6 kilos and 13.6 kilos =30lb

I know I'm a little late to comment gtv but if your in the us then burning wire is illegal and can get you massive fines if not jail time and most scrap yards will not accept burned copper
