OK. Very good. Makes sense. I might try to draft this pattern on a big roll of white paper I found from a newsprinting press that they were throwing out... One cannot buy such corset patterns anywhere, nor the finished product in Australian shops nowadays, not even in Melbourne, unlike in the past. So, having a shot at drafting own patterns and making my own is the only option. I am going to do it like this one, only I will drop the back down to the waist point for one corset, to wear with backless or low back dress. And make one with the higher back to wear with just a plain strapless evening dress. But, just to be extra secure, in case the dress starts to roll down at the top of the bust, I am going to locate some sort of fabric that will stick the top of the dress to the top of the corset eg a bit of velcro fastening which is very secure. It won't look too sexy, but it won't be visible on the outside and I don't plan on removing my dress to show off off my new corsetry skills in public places, so the ugly velcro fastening won't matter. Drafting such patterns is really quite involved... I now need to work out how to do the boning because this is necessary for the bigger busted woman, for the support. I'd say at least 4 vertical bones, one per member side and one under each breast. I think I will also need a round underwire for each cup and some of stiff fabric to offer support on the under side of each cup. Phew! Quite a lot of skillful work involved to make sure a bra or corset ! I can now appreciate why they are so expensive to buy ready made and even more costly custom made. Even though one could make a bra or corset out of just a few tiny scraps of fabric, a bit of elastic, a few fastenings....But, mastering this skill can save a fortune in cost of buying new bras all the time. One could also make bikinis, bathers and dance leotards using a similar basic pattern once you get it drafted to fit perfectly...
