I love corsets. I’ve worn them many times. I think the difficulty comes from cars and modern furniture. Driving in a car with a corset is definitely a challenge and slouching is impossible. Our current couches are for curling up in and terrible posture.

Cars are the worst for good posture and there's not much you can do about it, but it's frustrating and makes me avoid long drives. Couches are also not great but there's more selection and you can move freely and adjust more easily whereas in a car it'd be unsafe to do so.

@@hilary3219 I took forever to find my current vehicle because I need lumbar support, otherwise I’ll get nerve pain after longer drives. But that lumbar adjustment helps a lot!

I had never thought of a maternity corset before but they look like they would be so comfortable! like holding up your belly and giving you support! i already liked corsets but now I appreciate them even more

They still exist! I work as an orthopedic technician and we fit them to the pregnant person's body.

I could not live without my belly band when I was pregnant. I so desperately needed the extra support. Several of these corsets would have been so helpful! @@EmpressCosplay

Right? A support like that preventing the belly from giggling and sloshing with every movent, especially in the late stage pregnancy when even breathing feels like it causes everything to move, must have been quite nice.

I saw that, and I thought how good my back would have felt in a corset.

I am fascinated by historical garments - I have been since I went to a “living history museum” in the 1970s and saw a woman wearing panniers! I have NEVER seen historical maternity clothing. This is amazing - thank you!

All the maternity dresses were so lovely, thanks for sharing these photographs along with the historical information on corsets. 😊

Wow, this was very interesting. Thanks. No Victoria’s Secret back then, but to this day VS sells corsets inspired by these “back in the day beauties”😊

I always wondering about the shoulder straps on corsets when looking at patterns. Now I know! Thanks for the historical stroll. ❤

honestly the more I learn about corsets the more I like them compared to our modern bras

You learn to do what you have to do in the clothing that you're in. I haven't worn pants in thirteen plus years yet ive done plenty of outdoor stuff plus work one wouldn't expect to do in a skirt.

You can also wear them loose, it is not comfortable for menbut if you absolutely need to bend your waist just loosen the ties and wiggle a bit then retie it when youre done

If you want a well fitting corset which doesn’t cause you problems, you need to get one made to your measurements, etsy has many historical corset makers buy from them rather than cheap fetish corsets that don’t fit. Also, don’t forget to wear a shift or chemise under the corset or you’ll be very uncomfortable.

If I am uncomfortable in a bra would I be uncomfortable in a corset

"Nursing corset" - я не могу понять: это специальный корсет для медицинской сиделки или это медицинский бандаж? Словосочетание это - давно не в ходу, но предметы одежды продолжают использоваться: причём, - и те и другие.

Nursing as in a woman who is breast feeding. Nothing whatsoever to do with hospital uniform.

Wait.... people can bend at their hips too!?!?? Next you'll be telling me that I can move my head left to right with just my neck (crazy!)
@tinathompson74085 ай бұрын
That doesnt mean it was comfortable. You have to be a stick to bend in them and not lose your breath. I am by society standards skinny and i am out of breath if i have to bend to tie my shoe and thats with zero corset.
@misstweetypie15 ай бұрын
If you are skinny, how can you say for certain that you have to “be a stick to bend in them”? You could be out of breath because all the blood rushes to your head, you could be out of shape, etc. Besides, bras aren’t always comfortable, and yet the majority of society (at least western society) wears them.

I’m pretty damn fat and I can bend down in a corset just fine.
