Corso, you have to remember that hallowpunk and mortar are polar opposites. Hp is an event tower you can get basically for free by doing all the event with a preset loadout while mortar takes a long time to get with the level 75 requirement. I still believe that hp is bad even for the target playerbase of new players, but comparing it to mortar makes it look worse than it's meant to be

@void2135 those events did not give you preset loadouts and required you to have teammates with high level towers. And having a low level teammate with only scout and sniper would significantly impact your chances of actually beating the event

I think the upgrades in the game say that it does 3 damage per tick and does a tick every 0.25 seconds for 16seconds. Making the burn damage 192 damage in 16 seconds. The 27 DPS is correct.

Ironically demoman is better for crowd control damage while rocketeer is not hard to get and is more effective, but this is a tower that anyone, including level 0 players, can get so it's understandable that it's weak. And it also has flying detection and knockback, which sorta makes it more support orientated compared to demoman and rocketeer. But I genuinely wonder what this guy will be used for.

The burn on max level is what make this tower useful, with its high explosion radius and cheap to spam, u can set the whole horde on fire(196 total elapsed fire dmg) by changing target priorities, thats almost as good as golden pyromancer, the addional splash dmg, knockback(more than nothing) and large range(get less stun) is what make it differ from pyro. Nevertheless, this is a free tower for new players which can be an alternative to Gpyro. I would personally, move it to low B tier

Me and a friend were playing when the update came out and we used the punk purely for support because we found the knock back and burn to be pretty useful, especially when it's so cheap and has so much range. I think the punk is just a fun tower that has its use determined by if the player thinks it's fun to use.

Tbh I feel like the comparison between mortar and hallowpunk is pretty unfair, hallopunk is designed as an early game thats cheaper to max out and does pretty solid on max lvl vs crowds (especially waves 11 - 20 of fallen) set targetting to random and you can a good 4 - 5 enemies hit paired with slow

If they want to make this tower serve a purpose to be a knockback tower. It would be a good idea to make the rocket launch and stick to the enemies pushing them back before it explode. I honestly just see hallow punk as an early game rocketeer, and considering you can get it as a level 0 player, yeah this tower is pretty balanced. It’s like on par with the intermediate towers in terms of how useful it is. And this tower can also be used in hardcore, unlike all starter towers, so there’s that going for it.

The burn effect doesn't do 3 dps. It's 3 damage per tick and each tick is around .25 seconds. So really it's 12 dps. (i may be wrong as this is from memory)

Hallow punk can actually hit roughly 4 enemies per shot with 114.84 dps per hallow punk with a value of 13.16 / $1000. With good crowd control this tower reminds me of hunter but with splash damage instead and I do think this tower does have some good potential if you use it correctly in any gamemode. (However it is complete trash against bosses)
