CORT Grand Regal Series Tone comparison Guitar review in Singapore

Definite difference in tone between the two guitars. Cedar more balanced and notes well articulated, better for finger picking. Spruce projects louder and a bit brighter, better for strumming imo.

January 2019 I bought the Cort GA5F-BW & the Cort Gold-06. Mainly I play fingerstyle. The GA5F I play a lot more but both guitars have their own very good quality sound. So the Cort GA5F-BW has a Solid Red Cedar Top with Australian Blackwood back and sides. The Cort Gold-06 has a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides. The GA5F-BW is a sweet sounding guitar with good bottom. Great sound for fingerstyle indeed. The Gold-06 to my mind seems well suited for blues and some other styles of music. The Fishman Presys built in electronics on the GA5F-BW has a built in tuner. Very nice. Very good value for the price of the guitars... I am looking really hard at the GA5F-BW, but its hard. In the reviews its Cedar Blackwood, but now selling is Spruce Blackwood. wondering if much changed in the sound or only a little? The audio of the Madagascar spruce sounds nice as well, but I dont see that on Corts current offering of GA5F series. Its currently Spruce-BW, Spruce-Pau Ferro , or spurce-Ziricote. Shopping is difficult in the united states as its not marketed, but similar Siemens is not marketed heavy in industrial electronics. I cant find much video wise for current sound comparison of atleast Ziricote and BW comparison with GA5F. People I have talked to either LOVE these guitars or dont have any experience with them.

@@codyhanthorn4270 All I can tell you Cody is that I really like my Cort guitars. Years ago they sounded really crappy to my ears, but now they are making very nice quality guitars. I know it is quite difficult to make a decision on what guitar to purchase. Especially since they change the type of wood used in the guitars.

These are giving Taylor a serious run for the money. Too many people are hung up on the headstock logo.

I have tested my own cedar top and compared it to a good Taylor, sounds equally good. The cedar top is not as bass-heavy as the spruce top GA5F. It got a tighter sound with a more defined mid-range, and is projecting better. Lots of nice overtones. I actually bought my unheard IRL (i headhunted it, searching for this sound) and changed strings to a tad thicker gauge on the bass E-side, coated elixirs (nanoweb 12-56) that took down the mid a bit too - turned out to be a close to perfect balance. Took the GA5F blackwood/cedar to the local guitar shop who now have taken in the Cort lines besides all other brands, and it probably is one of the very best they have in there. A Furch i A-B´d sounded like utter crap (well - it sounded good, not just as good) compared to this one. Much more expensive. I think i want to check out the GA5F-PF (Pau Ferro back/sides - spruce top) next for some variety.

In 2019 Cort make superb guitars at every price point segment IME. Taylor asking prices outside the US are only for those who crave or can afford ego's premium IMV.

I own a high end Taylor and a High end Cort.The Cort sounds better actually and it costs 1/4 the price of the Taylor.

I like both guitars ... bit I think the difference is just aesthetic.. I like the darker guitar .. but I dont like the glossy finish

Both sound very nice & each different due to the wood(s) used. Had a Cort some time ago and it was "junk". ...terrible ! Must say, the company has come a long way since I owned one ! Thanks again for all the reviews . I refer to them often. :-)

Cort GA5F for sure. Tried the SFX a few days ago, nothing special. The GA sounds way huge. Usually I like Spruce top, but in this comparison Cedar one sounds awesome; but, if you're more into strumming the Spruce one is better, for fingerpicking Cedar sounds just superior. I was looking on byuing the L300VF but this GA guitars sound just epic, probably I'mm getting one myself

They may be good practice guitars, but I still don't like the boxy tone/depth of the grand auditorium size ones like these. Dreadnought and jumbo sized acoustics still give that broader sound.

Baby Taylor is expensive . I would buy these CORT instead of the Taylor it's cheaper and full size. This is just my own opinion.

i know a small scale guitar cannot match the sound of full scale guitars. unless you are small sized and have tiny hands

try Yamaha FG or FS series you never go wrong its ether you're strumming or fingerstyle type..the guitar wood used makes sense Mahogany and Rosewood Top or Back and sides..look for the fretboard that suits to your hands. 😉

yamaha fg and fs have standard size nut width. some people want 1 3/4 inch nuts

Great review! Do you ever find that you strum or fingertips with different pressure or intensity based on the sound that you immediately hear coming from the guitar. I have found that I play just a little differently on each guitar that I put in my hands...just my humble observation is all.

The cedar one is actually cheaper than the spruce one. Soundwise, i honestly cannot really discern much difference.

If you play fingerstyle a lot then the cedar TOP piece which is the BW
