Cortez Kennedy is one of the best defensive tackles in his era. He was the prototype as a defensive force. He’s a Hall of Famer who was goon too soon. R.I.P. Cortez Kennedy!!!

Agreed, there's a massive gap between Tez and whoever #2 is.

The thing about defensive tackles is stats don't begin to tell the story on how dominant they are. Kennedy could push back the guard, and occupy the center forcing the running back to halt their momentum and redirect where they play was designed to go, allowing the linebackers to pursue and get the tackle. Or on pass plays he would push back the guard not allowing the quarterback to step up, forcing them to throw a bit more flat footed or chasing them out of the pocket to the outside where defensive ends would be in position to get a sack. Those things don't show up on a stat sheet but that was Kennedy, dominating even if the stat sheet didn't show it.
