This happened on the 10th July we are now sep the 11th and my knuckle and wrist a still in a state.. Its taken to long to heal so I think I'm looking to get a shot... Hope yours has came right... I had inflammation in my left outer foot for several months. Podiatrist tried conservative therapy but it didn’t help. They didn’t want to inject because of the fear of rupturing the muscle. I asked him to try as I was having issues just walking. He got the needle in the joint and man what a difference!!

Fantastic video!! Very informative. I'm having issues with my right ankle peroneal tendon, from alot of walking. I'm seeing a foot doctor now. Had MRI done last week. Going to see him again next week. He did mention something about steroid/cortisone injections. I'll see what he recommends🤔 You said it's not really good for tendon issues. And you know how most doctors are? They'll do it anyway 💰

Here in Texas my mom has been getting spine injections for 20 years. And had no more vertebra for the surgery to install a spine bracket. And after that 2 years later the clinic doc started injecting her upper spine. So after 4 years of injections she has permanent upper back pain. She's 90 years old, and won't believe me that the doc is a malpractice law suite. She is suffering pain levels that she can't get out of bed and want's more injections from her doctor. TEXAS IS HELL.

I am a PA. If you want good care, find a good PA. We aren't tied down to a group. Private practicez are partnerships, where the doctors are investing partners. Think about it, private doctors will always be incentivised to dk what makes more money. I hate being the bearer of bad news. There are some good doctors, but based on my experience working as an orthopedic spine PA and general ortjopedic PA who now runs my own clinic, I can attest that you need to make sure you are especially careful with what DOCTOR you chose.

Help!!! After 10 monthes with Plantar fasciites i decided to get some cortison injections. After some weeks without pain i went back to the tennis court. So i ruptured my plantar fascia. After another 9 weeks without sports i am hesitant to start running. My question being: are these side effects of those injections reversable? Or is this area forever prone to injury ? Dont wanna be scared forever.

The medical care in Canada is crap post COVID. You can’t even pay for a private MRI anymore and the health authority is down 2 MRI machine ma so it’s a huge wait. Never tied this injection and pretty terrified of it. Have been issued one coming up, ugh.

I recently had a cortisone injection into the pubic symphysis for osteitis pubis problem I have for about a year now after I had a football injury ( alulsion tear to the rectus adductor) anyway I had the local anaesthetic and then when the steroid shot went in blood spurt out and so has been sent for analysis, doctor said he had never it from the pubic area and could be part of the problem so maybe it's been drained. I have been resting up the last few days and yes I have no pain for the first time in a year! I think you missed part of the message. She mentioned how steroids might be the correct choice in your particular situation. If you have an acute inflammatory response from a new injury, a steroid will lower the inflammatory reaponse so your body has time to heal. Sometimes an immune response (ie. Inflmmatory response) can be too severe and actually make you more susceptible to injury. But it depends on location, amount, etc.

After sitting at my computer for three years during Covid, my left hip flexor is shortened and painful, right in front on the very top of my thigh where it meets my abdomen. I had an ultrasound and no arthritis or other hip issues I am doing physical therapy ( on my second physical therapist)but that doesn’t seem to be helping either. This has been going on for two years. I do long walks and can now feel it in my lower back. I am 61 and active and this is super annoying. I have given up doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I do strength training but limited from the waist down due to this issue. Feel like I am running out of options.

I got a cortisone injection in my right knee four weeks ago. My knee feels much better, but ever since the injection, I've been getting cramps in my calves almost every night. They're very painful and it's not uncommon for me to get four or more cramps per night. I've tried drinking electrolytes and eating foods rich in potassium and nothing has helped. I'll never get a cortisone injection again. By the way, three months before the cortisone injection a different doctor tried hyaluronic acid injections and they were worthless.

@@onyxsinistergaming5923 hey it’s been a ride. Unfortunately the steroid did not help my pain. About five months ago I took the plunge and got a plasma injection and that helped. most of my pain has gone away. At the same time that I got my injection I had my rotator cuff for my right shoulder repaired which immobilized the entire arm for six weeks. Due to that I had some issues with the way my wrist healed but I went to pt and that helped correct the issues I had with my wrist slowly very slowly. If you plan on getting the plasma injection don’t stop moving your wrist or wherever it’s gonna happen same goes for the steroid. Also know that they are expensive and most insurances deny them.

I had my first ever steroid injection today, it was into the joint below the big toe with the sesamoids and tendons. I had some joint or soft tissue injury but not sure what the specific diagnosis is. I hope it helps. I am supposed to be standing for a few hours tomorrow but I’ll be in a walking boot so hopefully it won’t be a problem with severe pain or irritating the joint. Maybe I should ice and take ibuprofen these next few days. The pain I had before this was very sharp and sudden, and when I walk (only without the boot bc with it I have 0 pain), idk if it’s the pressure or toe stretching motion that aggravates it but I could not walk and it was just so tender. Just want to walk normally again, I’m only 18 and I don’t run or anything like that but it would be amazing if I could get back to 100%.

No, the research shows that lots of people have spurs that don't cause any pain. Actually spurs are one of those things that are over-diagnosed in people and often blamed for causing the pain because it is something one can "see" when in fact the pain started because the person did something that overstrained the foot e.g. stand or walk for too long in hard or unsupportive shoes or flat shoes or bare foot. So make sure you wear good shoes and are sensible with increasing activity slowly and it should be fine.

Thoughts on genicular nerve block on suspected sports knee injury and knee arthritis
@SportsInjuryPhysio
@SportsInjuryPhysio 2 жыл бұрын
Sensory nerves are really important to help your brain figure out where your body is in time and space so that it can control it properly. I would not do a nerve block for a sports injury as it needs to heal and if you’re having pain, it likely means it is not ready to return to sport or you’re not doing the right rehab. In my opinion you would put an athlete at risk if you perform this and send them back into sport. Knee arthritis is a different story. If you have tried a conservative programme of load management and exercise and other types of injections and it has not worked and the person is finding that pain is severely limiting their movement and activities, then I would consider it.

There is no harm in testing a short course of NSAID (long term use is not great) but if you've tried all the other things for at least 12 weeks (protecting your wrist and adjusting training and followed a gentle graded rehab plan) and nothing has worked, then steroids may have a place.

I hurt my wrist in the gym 4 months ago. No amount of physical therapy or anti inflammatory medicine worked. I did an mri and I found out I have a slight tear in the radio ulnar tendon in my left wrist. So my doctor said I could get a cortisone shot. I did that yesterday and I was expecting this to be permanent. But it only lasts a few months? So after a few months of my wrist feeling better I’ll eventually be unable to go to the gym again? Then what after that?
@SportsInjuryPhysio
@SportsInjuryPhysio Жыл бұрын
No - it will be fine. Yes, the cortisone only works to reduce the pain but that then helps you to be able to start rehab (very slowly) and strengthen the muscles that support the wrist and ligaments. Which then allows your wrist to fully strengthen and heal. So as long as you do the correct rehab, your wrist will be fine and you will be able to return to the gym without issue. If you wanted help with your rehab and an exercise plan, this is something that our team of physios can assess and help you with via video call. You can read more about how the online consultations work here: www.sports-injury-physio.com/

@brandonsg1367
@brandonsg1367 Жыл бұрын
@@nds9441 for me it didn’t really do much. After a few weeks it maybe felt a little bit better and I did go back to the gym twice, but then I realized that I can’t workout yet. My wrist is still in pain. I went back to the doctor and he said he wouldn’t rush surgery yet since it can heal on its own since the tear is very small. He said it could take a year from the initial injury (which was August last year so it’s close to a year) and if it’s still not healed then I would probably need surgery. Cortisone technically just relives pain and inflammation and that’s not just gonna fix a tear. I guess since my tear is small it can heal on its own even though it’s been 8 months already, but I’m not sure a bigger tear could heal on its own. Maybe ask your doctor if he thinks the cortisone will actually heal and fix the tear or is it just an anti inflammatory thing. Cause in my experience it didn’t actually heal my wrist

Opted to not do surgery and 8 months later to now I can move both wrists but still have lingering pain and aches and don’t feel strong enough to workout. Need to get an updated MRI to see how the tears are now but I’m considering the injection. Idk if surgery is a smart option either cause besides the annoying pain, I can do pretty much everything but again with some pretty decent amount of discomfort

I get major mental effect off these injections. I'd never ever have one again. I had one and it made my personality change an odd mix of anxiety/depression/depersonalisation. I had one I'm my shoulder and it caused it. It wore off after 5weeks of feeling like that. I went back and the doctor after a few weeks and he said can we try another injection but more precise using ultrasound to guide the needle. I said no way but he said it's really worth a try. I thought maybe I was just in a bad mood and I'll know what to expect next time so he talked me into it. Went and got the injection and bang straight back into that weird mental condition by the time I got home and stuck like it for 5weeks again. Very odd I'd never have one again.
