I wish I had seen this video last spring…when I pulled my trans out. That would have been much easier. Great video as always, simple and to the point, I can’t stand a 30 min video for 5 min of the content. Thanks!

I’ve watched your videos over the last few years and really enjoyed your approach. I can’t afford my dream widebody C6 but I just picked up my first corvette a 99 Hardtop recently. Your videos have really given me a lot of knowledge and I thank you for that. I look forward to more videos, and I’m so happy to be part of the corvette club now (especially C5) at 25. Such a fun car! Keep up the good work!

I was very interested in the bleeder , having the hose extended seems like the best approach when I look at how quickly the fluid gets fouled. When I had my clutch done, I asked for a bleeder, and was told they leaked, which at the time I believe was correct, tick wasn't in the market back then . I am going to check your site for info, and would appreciate a brief description of your parts and path for the bleeder if the no info is on your site. I posted here before going to your site since the C and S corvette site said early comments effect the monetization. I bought my 03 below market because the clutch was making noise, and didn't realize how quickly 40, 000 miles , the projected life lift in the rubber couplers torque tube, would pass. Now I need to rebuild the torque and was wondering if adding a bleeder into the job makes sense, or is the labor such that it is going to be charged as a separate job anyway.

Thanks for making this. I'm planning on having my c5z's clutch replaced and torque tube rebuilt in the near future. Something in the driveline( started making a whirring sound 1-2krpms(higher than that, exhaust drowns it out. 65mph, 6th gear. rev matched into 4th, decided not to accelerate, went back to 6th and it started. No vibrations. I'm thinking its the torque tube bearings. unmodified commemorative, 66k miles. It'll be getting a lot of Tick hardware! Any opinion on torque tube coupler material? rubber vs polyurethane?

what is a "757 C5Z?" I figured the 757 was referenced to something in his service history ... or to me, Boeing's most capable narrow body airliner ... THAT THEY CANCELLED. but anyhow. my learning curve is still vectored sharply UPWARD ... 18 mos into my own C5Z ownership (2001 MY). thanks.

Good luck Vet. I hope you don’t have to perform a clutch disk replacement anytime soon. But if so I’ll be praying for you. (:

Trying to find info and need help, looking to buy a c5 and was told that it has a stage 2 clutch and the peddle engages and disengages about 2 inches off the floor. Seems odd to me and I'm thinking it could be a master or slave issue, what is your opinion.

My pedal goes to the floor so i am installing the Tick master cylinder but i hear you just need to pump the pedal when done not actually bleed the entire system how true is this?

I am now thinking that I should get an auto trans when I buy a C5 this summer. I was leaning toward manual for the fun of it... but I really don't want any of these issues associated with the clutch etc. Thanks.

The clutch fluid should be flushed randomly to prevent the build-up of dirt, small particles, ect.

Getting an auto trans C5 will definitely hamper the experience of this vehicle to a degree. At the end of the day its a sports car and it is far more engaging with the 6 speed manual.

With an aftermarket master cylinder, are you able to adjust the clutch pedal lower/closer to the floor without compromising the clutch or pressure plate?
@corynitzsche
@corynitzsche Жыл бұрын
I just got my c5z back from a clutch replacement and they said my master cylinder isn’t OEM, and now my pedal is a lot higher (level with my brake pedal) and the engagement is super high which makes it really uncomfortable to drive. I asked the tech to adjust the pedal lower to the floor and he said it might damage the pressure plate and clutch over time, but I’ve been seeing that you can do that with an aftermarket master cylinder. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I have an 03 Z06 and when I get on it hard, the clutch feel changes some. The engagement moves closer to the floor and it feels a bit spongy without feeling like it’s slipping. The car has 80,000 miles and I think it’s the original clutch. Any thoughts anyone?
