This is such an incredible statement of truth, joy, authenticity, encouragement, awe, respect and the beauty of America (not done, but another step...finally!!). Listening the Judge (Justice no doubt!) Brown-Jackson was absolute perfection in brilliance, grace and poise....especially in running the gauntlet of incredibly ignorant, racially motivated, and downright insulting questioning by Republicans. Senator Booker's statement was such a refreshing and rejuvenating expression of his heartfelt thrill of FINALLY having a strong, brilliant and incredibly talented Black woman getting confirmed for the Supreme Court!! (And God, I wish Senator Booker had been elected President!!). I'm gonna watch this a few more times to soak in the love and fawning over Judge Brown-Jackson's perseverance and inevitable and so well deserved ascendence to the Supreme Court! Stand in your power, Sister!!

The comments on this platform is a good example on how black people in America are destroyed and finished!!! Y'all up here praising black men crying on national television, you're praising a woman who supports the killing of black babies up to 9 months, who's soft on pedophilia, who's trying to take parents rights away from law biding parents and last but not least, as a judge can't define what a WOMAN is, despicable!!!!! #NiggazInAmericaAreFinished

What would you reaction be knowing the pain it has caused you, the pain of seeing your son or daughter go through depression, lash out at you because you were not there for then because the feel forgotten. When the confirmation hearings started, I was repeatedly reciting Maya Angelou's, Still I Rise. After this moment yesterday, I found this poem/prayer by Makeen Zachery that is noted below: A prayer For Black Women: I pray that the weights on Black women’s plates are lightened. That instead, our cups are filled to the brim with all of the joy and peace that our mere existence deserves. I pray that our arms raise music of our own hips, the metronome of our feet, the scores of our hums. That our laughs and snaps fuel the drumming of our hearts. I pray that we feel no need for the validation of those who are not our own. That we are constantly reminded of the prophetic nature of our own minds. I pray that we Black women feel at home in our own celebrations of our majesty. That the love we offer ourselves and the world is shone back onto us by the sun and the moon, and poured back into us by the hands we hold. I pray that Black women, in this week and in this lifetime, grant ourselves permission to settle into our own expansiveness. That we bestow upon ourselves the key that only we have held through time. I pray most of all that we find peace in our breath. And power in our declarations. ---Makeen Zachery And this part in particular shot through me yesterday as if I had touched an electric fence: " I pray that we feel no need for the validation of those who are not our own." And of course with a granddaughter in Texas who reports nothing of this from her school's curriculum (no surprise), I thank the ancestors, I thank my parents, I thank Cory Booker, I thank Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, and I thank the good LORD for this day and the days that follow. The USA will indeed be better with this appointment. #BlackGirlMagic
