I had the same problem with Zhiyun. I have 3 video lights, did the update, and 2 lights stopped working afterwards. Now I had to send it in (Switzerland to Hong Kong) and have no more light to work with. I'll take care of the software updates in future...especially after the warranty.

Welcome to the club. My A7m4 suffers from the dreaded eye AF. I compared same model camera, mine has much worse hit rate. Sent to repair twice, basically I am imagining thing, also my main glass is too wide(24mm), so it is normal... despite I tested a working unit...

The funny thing is that if the Bluetooth application was not required, there would be no problem, now I need to use the application for a job and I'm afraid to update my camera, what a ridiculous situation...

I will think twice about buying sony in future. Blackmagic has been great with their support,. Especially for older cameras.

This happened to my A7siii a couple years back; where the network chip fried and subsequently the wifi/bluetooth function went out. I was still able to film on it without it bugging out but ultimately ended up sending it in for an in warranty repair (I like connecting to the app for remote monitoring and control). For my repair they "replaced the main motherboard" and I haven't had any issues since. My issue might have been heat related as I remember the camera was left recording in my bag by accident prior to realizing it had issues. (I wonder if the camera disables overheating protection during software updates? Maybe worth keeping camera extra cool during an update?) I just recently updated the A7siii to the new 3.02 firmware (3.01 and then 3.02 a couple weeks later when they added a patch) with no issues yet... but your experience gives me hesitation on updating going forward. The Sony support in the USA is very disconnected and they outsource all of their repairs to just one or two shops. The shop I've used (Precision Camera) generally do good work, but they often inflate the cost of repairs. Flagship Sony cameras minimum of ~700$ and GM lenses minimum repair cost of ~600$. I've done a couple lens filter ring repairs for ~70$ (ebay parts). For similar repairs they've charged me 600$ plus shipping before. If you have the time, faith in yourself, and access to parts/teardown videos, it could be worth it sometimes to take on repair yourself.

Lol I just got to the part where you referenced your a7iii audio jack 15:20 and that happened to me as well! I love my Sony cameras but man their quality control and accountability is lacking compared to the competition right now imho.

@@techr9186 Sony partners with precision camera for repairs in my region… I believe there is another store in California either “Video One Repair” or “Sony PRO Support Los Angeles”

Still going thru the NIGHTMARE of trying to update my A1 (last attempt was to reset to Factory Settings to make sure the installation doesn’t crash on some user options that Sony never tested for… that can disable your Wi-Fi connection or simply BRICK the Camera 🤬 Sure you don’t have to reset back to Factory settings to ensure a clean upgrade??? 🧐

If the “redeeming” update comes out soon, what about all the people that paid money and time to have the camera “repaired”? I would feel really bad if they charged me 700$ for an unneeded repair I could have skipped; more so that some people in the comment said they had the camera for months or still have it. This is a serious issue for Sony, they should do something to address the situation asap, or they’ll loose a ton of credibility.

Hoping sony can figure out the issue soon and patch it for free. For context on the Fujifilm comments, recent updates for the 5th gen fujifilm processor cameras seem to have made the AI based autofocus unusable in the camera (happy I am sticking with the 4th gen cameras). Not sure, but it appears that with newer Fujifilm cameras users were able to roll back the firmware to original one which makes the autofocus work as intended again. Hard times with all of these firmware updates as of late... hoping for the best!

I had the same thing after an update. Also applied for sony cashback 3 times - never got the money I was promised on purchase. I hate using Sony products I never recommend them to others despite the amazing image they are capable of. Shutter angle not being on a fx3 from purchase is laughable, it’s part of their cinema line.

i just updated my FX3s last night, it wont allow using some sony batteries maybe i was sold fake ones , if i still go ahead with it - then it wont show me my battery percentage

I also can't connect to the Creator's Monitor app via bluetooth, only works with USB-C cable. Apparently a lot of people's FX3's got affected in one way or another from this firmware.

It was an official Sony announcement that we will be getting shutter angle in a new firmware update rumoured to be release in September

Using a smartphone as a remote commander. Wirelessly controlling camera iris & rec stop on the DJI RS3 mini, Location Information for photos, Sending photo to your Smartphone. I think more to the point, losing features after firmware update is never a good thing 😅

@@cameranerdsmedia For sure. Not ideal. I think these features were WiFi features when I had an a7S2 & a6500, so Bluetooth is probably a lower battery draw now. Hope there's a firmware update soon!

I’m on version 4. @sony fx3 I will never go to another firmware knowing it is $6xx.00 . Shame on you #sony. Especially as this is a CINEMA line camera, considered as their “pro” lineup. I would rather get a ZV(whatever) and have a 2nd EMOUNT camera to put my $10,000.00 in lenses I spent on E mount. @sony don’t you want to sell more lenses? Then help this dude out @cameranerdsmedia , or I am done with @sony.
