I can only imagine the thrill of Cory and the band to have a giant like Larry Carlton playing with them considering the work he's done on so many classic albums. For me, his work with Joni Mitchell was a gamechanger.
@dmljones25502 жыл бұрын
Larry’s work with Steely Dan from 1975 to 1978 including Katy Lied, The Royal Scam, Aja especially and Gaucho was rich in diversification as was his input into Donald Fagens fabulous album The Nightfly. Whilst not mentioned in the forum with with Coryand Mark I’m sure when Larry said but my music is 45 years old and they replied they love that stuff they would have been thinking Fagen and Becker. In fact Larry’s influence on SD was huge. And don’t get me wrong I’m a Joni fan.

It's not often, these days, that you see 13 really talented musicians grooving effortlessly on the same stage, which is why I love this video. It's far more rare that one of those 13 is Larry Carlton and another is Cory Wong! I've been a devoted fan of Larry's playing since the early '80s, when he was putting out albums like "Sleepwalk" and "Strikes Twice." He is a consummate professional who always delivers the goods, and has been a 'hired gun' on hundreds of sessions, ranging from several Steely Dan albums to the theme song for the television show "Hill Street Blues." I am also very fortunate to have seen him on his 1986 tour, which produced the Grammy Award-winning live album, "Last Nite." Jazz-rock guitarists don't come any cooler or more talented than Larry Carlton. Thank you.

Larry, How fun! What joy it must be to play with such a great band. It's a little sad, but my hands gave out this year. I worked as a massage therapist for 8 years and unfortunately I overworked them and I now have "trigger fingers" on both hands and they cramp up. I can't make a fist with my left. A tip for other "old guys": Those "copper fit" gloves work miracles. I wear them every day and my hands are so much better than what they could be. They'd be crippled without them. I accept it as my fate, but thank God for You Tube. I've got all my songs I wrote for THE HARDY BOYS, THE GROOVIE GOOLIES, FAT ALBERT, and a bunch of singles I wrote for people like Glen Campbell, Helen Reddy, The Ashes, The Outsiders, The Knickerbockers, The Challengers and others. It's been a fun ride. I still remember THE SANDBAGGERS bowling team we had some 60 years ago. Such great times!
