Sin you should do an episode on how the sprites in Ludwig's sword are actually the amygdalae! They're the only plural great one (Guidance rune describes them in the plural "beings"), they're private and elusive (invisible), Ludwig didn't want to know what they really were (like how the player filters them out of their view right in front of them until they gain insight), they act as guides (between Yharnam and the nightmare frontier) and most importantly they emptied Ludwig of his fear and the amygdala is the brain region that governs fear response in humans also the guidance rune kinda looks like one

The reason the Hunter has to kill Rom is obscure, but it's there: you're seeking Paleblood, which can only reveal to yourself if you uncover the lore of Yharnam, as the Minister says at the start of the game. The Old Blood was first discovered by Byrgenwerth and you have to head there for clues: in the meantime you discover a subplot about a ritual that uses an infant's cry to beckon the Great Ones, which is causing a major outbreak of the beastly scourge by attracting the Blood Moon. You need to uncover this ritual to find Paleblood (both the Red Moon sky and the Moon Presence) and alt the source of the spreading of the plague of beast (again both Mergo and the Moon Presence) to wake up from the Dream: Rom is the only thing standing between Mensis and you as "the spider (of Byrgenwerth) hides all manners of rituals". Therefore, it must die.

Honestly I'm kind of wondering why Fangamer doesn't offer Cosmic Eye Watcher Badges for sale with their official merch, given that they're both iconic and attractive. (Speaking of which, the next time Richie is complaining about how the game is five years old and you're still cranking out videos, point out that new official merchandise is still being released regularly for this five-year-old game; if Sony can continue milking the cow, so can you! And you can serve that eldritch milk in your official Bellebrooitus sippy cup.)

You say there is no Mensis Badge. There are at least two: Sparkhunter Badge and Powder Keg Badge. All of the Yarhargul hunters wield weapons unlocked by those badges, or the beast weapons. It is my belief that Izzy and Archibald were founding members of Mensis. Probably when the Church disavowed the Hunters and formed their own army of Executioners. But that is a little speculative

Wasn’t it covered at some point that Yahar Gul is where the spark hunters had their workshop and that Mensis hired the Yahar Gul hunters alongside Gascogne and Henrik in order to drive them out when they first set up shop there? The Yahar Gul hunters are basically just mobsters, so it doesn’t make sense for them to be passionate about making weapons, but they surely wouldn’t be opposed to using some from the supply they pillaged from another group

@@MarionetteDuAuguste It's fairly speculative that Henryk was opposed to the Spark Hunters (basically because he wears anti-bolt gear, but there's no established reason why). And it's more or less a coin flip whether Archibald's workshop was destroyed by Mensis when they took over the place or if the School of Mensis was the workshop eccentric's particular patron (it's also a question whether his workshop was destroyed by hunters or something went very wrong in his experimental protocol and everyone got killed, probably because he was mucking about with darkbeasts)--kind of like how you can argue that Paarl was a Spark Hunter who turned into a darkbeast or that he was a darkbeast dredged up from Loran to use as a research subject who got out and ate a Spark Hunter while making his escape. All we really know for sure is that the Sparkies are dead, Paarl's smashed through a wall and ended up in that plaza next to the Old Yharnam door, and that Mensis ended up with lots of Spark Hunter weapons (which, as you note, they'd be happy to pick up and use regardless of whether or not they paid for them or took them by violence). They're one of those aspects of the game where the outline is there but it's really left up to the player to construct their own story around it. Your interpretation works as well as any other one that fits the facts. (You could actually make the same argument about the beast weapons--did the Yahar'gul hunters get access to them because Old Yharnam is literally next door so they scavenged them off dead Powder Kegs who were involved in the cleansing by fire of the place, or could they be heretical Powder Kegs themselves who left the Workshop after that incident but didn't have Djura's idealism and so hooked up with Mensis?)
