I think the astonishing thing about this fight is that in spite of every single thing... Saitama was *STILL HOLDING BACK.* Not only was he only fighting with one hand, but he was still deliberately choosing to not kill Garou so he could fulfill his promise. That is just insane.

Saitama DOES have some skill in martial arts at the very least, as seen in the OVA episode before he became overpowered, but he never was anything close to a talented martial arts prodigy like Garou and Bang. In fact, the series constantly reminds us that Saitama was born a completely normal, average guy but only wields god-like power because of the fact that he broke his limiter. The reason he was able to copy Garou's time travel technique was because as Garou had described it, he was able to _"master the power of God without taking its hand"_ As well as the fact that Saitama's strongest ability is not his unlimited physical strength.. but *pure cartoonish bullshittery* which even infinite physical strength should NOT be able to let him do (being able to grab portals, break into spiritual dimensions, etc.). He's likely a living incarnation of the term those annoying powerscalers like to throw around to "debunk" characters with unlimited fighting potential, which is *"No Limits Fallacy".* If Saitama truly is, it will be proven once he fights God and casually beats down who is being hyped up by the manga as an omnipotent, all-powerful being.

6:49 just to drive home how absurd this move is: The name is Omnidirectional Serious Punch,it’s a single punch with dozens of after images making it look like it’s coming from everywhere. When Saitama punched him in the portal he didn’t follow Garou,HE WAS ALREADY ON THE OTHER SIDE(you can even see him in the split second Garou opens the portal). The crazy thing is that he was moving so fast that he was faster than teleportation,he probably saw Garou opening a portal and ran around the moon to find the other side and punched him right back to where he was trying to scape from. Because of that this is my favorite serious move of him so far.

One of my favorite transitions at 4:44. We go from Saitama looking down at Garou with the eye of Jupiter in the background to a wide shot showing how big Jupiter is compared to Io. In the initial scene Saitama is clearly associated with Jupiter and Garou with Io with the panel evenly split between them, but then the change in perspective shows just how laughable the comparison is. Good foreshadowing for the fight ahead and simultaneously establishing its setting.

Tbh I think the only reason Saitama failed to kill the mosquito was it's size. The sheer tininess of the mosquito caused Saitama to be unable to focus all of his power into one single concentrated spot in the air, and his immense strength then back-fired on him: His power is so strong that it gets dispersed into the surroundings when it emits from his punch, causing the strength that actually struck the mosquito to be less than an average person, thus rendering Saitama unable to kill not just mosquitoes but perhaps tiny things in general. You can see how easily Saitama killed the mosquito queen (or whatever it's called) later on, which Genos couldn't-the target was way larger then. Frankly I'd be interested to see if Saitama really cannot kill things too tiny, because if my theory is actually correct then Saitama's weakness may have been just discovered

Once in the market (karate chop) and once when he thought to attack King (kick) Just like when he faced Guard Dog or whatever that hero's name is. He couldn't identify the technique, so he couldn't copy it. It was only when he focused on raw power that he began managing to hold his own with Saitama. But even then, he still had limits and Saitama has no limit.

You know what this animation perfectly captures about Saitama and One Punch Man in general? This 1:06. Depression. Saitama isn't physically threatened by anything. There's not a force in all of reality that can challenge him. And yet, he's dealt a more crippling and Biblically devastating blow than any punch can deal, by realizing that he wasn't there for his one and only best friend. The closest thing he has to family, and he let them down. He wasn't there for them when they needed him. And this realization wounds him down to the very soul. Seeing this person, though weaker than him but that he admired immensely nonetheless, being killed directly because he let him down. He wasn't a good enough hero to save the student that worshipped him for how great of a hero he was, but who Saitama secretly respected and appreciated far more than Genos could ever know. The ache of being the strongest thing in the universe, and letting down the ones you love regardless. All that power, completely meaningless. That's why Saitama doesn't even hesitate. That's why with one single step, he launches straight into the most serious punch he's ever thrown. Because even with the power of God, Saitama was weak, and it killed his only friend. That face he makes right before he launches himself at Garou isn't just anger, it's disappointment in himself. It's the realization that now he's alone in the world, nobody but himself and his own immense power, because he wasn't strong where it counts. And he's beyond angry over it. He's homicidal. And there's no homicidal urge more powerful than the one with which you know, even if you win, you've still lost forever. All that's left for him in that singular instant of realization, a moment of genuine comprehension of his true, eternal emptiness... Is a motherfucker that needs the only thing he has left in life to give. KILLER MOVE... SERIOUS SERIES... 👊

Isn't that the whole point of this" (loosely rephrased) He was actually asking (holding Genos' core in the foreground for emphasis, mind!) "You killed someone I care about to make me fight you at full power - and you can't even keep up? What was the point, then?" Calling him out for doing something so atrocious, something that (until the time-punch shenanigans) couldn't be taken back - and sounding almost disappointed when Garou couldn't even manage to match him, let alone surpass him. Not only is the animation quality absolutely staggering, but the way this has been translated into motion from the original spurce material is *SO EXPERTLY* handled here, the pacing is absolutely phenomenal and kept me gripped through the entire fight. Outstanding work Edit: I have absolutely no idea if you're gonna see this, but for the energy beams that happen when characters fight you might want to try using blues or purples to show an attack with a *lot* of energy behind it, going from the ultraviolet light side of the spectrum. Reds and yellows are more low frequency comparatively, and have less energy

Crazy to think Saitama was still holding back both because he made a promise and because he was careful with Genos' core.
