For those who remember the northeast blackout in August of 2003... they said it was a tree. A tree took out the entire grid for 30 million people for 5 days huh? Then in September 2003 there was a massive blackout in Italy and Switzerland that affected 56 million people. Funny huh I never heard anything about the Sun being highly active around that time. It's only a matter of time people before the next big one. They say we had a massive near miss just a few years ago. One that could of took out the grid of half the planet. Little known fact...building a electrocal transformer is very time consuming process that takes 2 years. There is only a certain amount of replacement transformers on hand. In the event of a massive grid down situation essential worker buildings will get those replacement transformers first. Military, hospitals, police town and city government will get them first. If your lucky enough to live near a place like that expact alot of people to be knocking on your door. If your not you could expect to be without power for a very long time. I read a report that in the event of the US being in situation like this the death toll could be 50-100 million in the 6 months to a year. Food producering plants. medicine, gasoline production will all be down. The first unlucky ones will be insulin dependent diabetes and people that need life saving medice. So if this is you I Would start stockpiling now. For everyone else food and clean water will be your biggest problem. So plan accordingly. I suggest dry stores rice beans and good water filtration down to the microbial level, there are a few that do the job. After food and water comes protection, antibiotics and communication ,radio and a couple walkie tkies. Two meter band is preferable ( more range) but you'll need to pass a ham radio operators test for those. Also some form of solar power back up to recharge radios and other small things. Normally I don't talk about this but im hoping that people after watching this will be awake enough to listen and not just laugh it off. And don't tell anyone your doing this. I did and the first thing they said was ,oh good to know ill just come to your place. Im saving me and my family. Im sorry but I'm not feeding my neighborhood for 2 weeks only to let my family starve in the long term. And don't expect the govt to save you... they ll be busy saving their families and themselves. I hope that helps someone.

Hell yeah. Spacerip > all. As always, top notch documentary. Speaking of which, I kind of wonder what your production regime is like. Perhaps at some point you could make a "behind the scenes" video, showing how you put these amazing docs together. Perhaps we could also get to see the great Dick Rodstein in the studio recording his badass narration. The animation and editing process too.

***** Nice work. The production crew on this channel always knock it out of the park, and it's cool you replied. Appreciate it. I don't actually have any specific questions, as I am so ignorant as to what goes into media like that that I have no idea what to ask. I just thought it would be cool if at some point we got a behind the scenes video, so we can see all the people involved in making these docs, and show our appreciation more directly. Haha, I think I would need a "making of Spacerip" in order to know enough about it to even ask any questions. Thanks for the offer. If I think of anything I will certainly reply, and hopefully someone else who is not as ignorant as I am takes advantage of your offer to answer questions and asks you something pertinent. It's all the more badass that you want to interact with your growing community in that way.
