It is because she's young and hot tho, so-called 'character' actresses, which is really a euphemism for old or average-looking, don't get such daft questions. It's because so many young women are obsessed with celebs and aspire to look like them. Sad.

@114273669558505659390 Women are asked these questions because women want to know about it. Men don't give a flying fuck what makeup tricks women have, or if they have special poses. Even if they do ask women supposedly inappropriate questions, it's because these movies are, mostly, (read carefully: mostly) made for men, so it mostly caters to men. It's not harmful sexism, it's just giving the consumer what they want. Edit: I don't really believe this anymore - I think too few women care about makeup shit to justify asking about it, and doing so stereotypes women as someone who not only does care, but should care, about makeup shit. I don't think it's a gigantic problem, but I can certainly see why it can get annoying. Either way it's a silly gender invention. In many cultures, and animals, men pretty themselves.
@AsifIcarebear3
@AsifIcarebear3 9 жыл бұрын
***** "the second one is completely based on a concept that has decided who's going to like what based on gender." Urgh, this shit. Boys wanted cool action heroes, and forth sprang comic book action heroes and everything with it; including, but not limited to, big titted women, because hotdamn do we like us some tits. Likewise, women like sappy romance bullshit, so forth sprang sappy romance novels that cater to women, with oily muscled dudes who fuck women. No one but men and women, boys and girls, decided all this. "In this case, they may be catering to their "consumer", but that's because they've decided the other consumer isn't supposed to enjoy it." Regardless of society - across hundreds of cultures, throughout history - men have liked fighting and war and conflict more than women, mostly stemming from our higher aggression. It's not a social construct that men enjoy war flicks, and action movies, and indeed comic book movies, more than women. Men and women are inherently different.
@naureenrashid5023
@naureenrashid5023 9 жыл бұрын
AsifIcarebear3 I feel like everything you're saying is a huge generalization. A large part of the consumers of these action movies and comics is girls. Just because it's a stereotypically male product doesn't mean that 90% of the consumers are male. Marvel has a huge, huge female fanbase, according to recent polls, they make up 45-47% of it. Men and women are BIOLOGICALLY different and that's the only difference. I rather sit at home and play video games than watch a chick flick despite being a "girly girl" who likes makeup and has a completely pink bedroom.

And yet nobody says anything when men are asked about their workout routines or how they lost weight for a role. The ideal male body is one of muscle and physical and athletic prowess. The ideal female body is one of curves and attractiveness and sensuality. Why would you ever expect to have a man asked about his makeup routine or his skin care regimen or his clothing? That doesn't matter in the male circles. Women care about that shit. That's why it's women type magazines that always ask that of women.

King Actresses often, when in interviews with men especially, never get asked "in what way do you feel this character has influenced your life, and has acting with this cast changed you as a person ?" or "Do you feel as though your character and you have common qualities?" instead they get asked "What did you eat to get that body?" "Could you wear underwear under your costume?" "How do you feel being the sexy avenger?" they aren't interesting questions, they have the exact same answer and are really shallow. Guys really don't get these questions that often, sure maybe the ones who are known for being the quote on quote "Hot" ones but it's not the only questions they get and it's not every single interview. I hope this clarifies things for you.

@goodbyehoes Tbh, most men don't do it consciously. A lot of them do though. I know this kid (17 years) who opened up to me about being bisexual. I told him he should just tell people that. The people he trusts with knowing it. And when he felt more comfortable, he can openly tell anyone. But he choose friends that weren't very supportive. They probably don't mind bisexual people or gay people, but they still mocked him for it, pointing to other men saying "are you attracted to him?". I questioned one of them and he said he didn't mind his friend being bi. I asked where the jokes came from. And then the most annoying sentence "It's just fun among guys." It got to the point where he would refuse ever having said he was bisexual. Isn't that just sad? Not being able to out yourself because the guys won't tell you they support you...

Male or female, being able to hear actors talk about the physical demands of film and shit like the ubiquity of hollywood makeup _as well as_ more meaningful stuff about their work in the acting itself is nice. Questions like "what are you going to do on the red carpet?" can go right in the garbage though what even is this shit. "What are you doing at the premier?" Brilliant! Well done, Cosmopolitan!!! It's interesting though, how both of them struggle with answering the questions. With Mark it get's really jokey and more like a farce (which honestly is one of the only proper responses to these kind of questions - no matter what gender the interviewee is). But interestingly even Scarlett didn't quite know how to answer her questions. Like, she had answers - and good ones - but they were not very eloquent. That shows even more how she basically never gets asked questions about stunt work and the depth of her character. Crazy!

Ashley Hunter I'd rather argue that the reason she didn't have a ready answer is because she doesn't get these questions asked much. Just like Marc didn't know how to answer the rabbit food questions. She is prepared to answer questions about dresses and diets, and maybe even has some snarky comments ready about the interviewers sexism - but if you next to never get asked serious questions about your craft you are quite taken back if you have to answer them suddenly. And it's not just Scarlett, it's basically every pretty women in the business!

The only older woman in the film industry are extremely attractive and relatively ageless ( likely in the form of genes and surgery and exercise regime). To compare - pay attention to anything you watch with men of a supposedly similar age and note the ageing signs in them ( as in this video - hair colour, wrinkles) .. most likely there won't be woman of a similar age - but if there are - they will likely look (or be) far younger than their counterparts.

A woman can walk down the streets wearing pants or shorts and no one cares, but then a man steps outside wearing a skirt/dress and people question his actions. Women's weightlifting and wrestling are both Olympic sports, however men's synchronized swimming isn't, because "that would be just weird", according to some people. A woman working in construction, engineering, or as a tradie, while not common, isn't considered unusual, however all male fashion designers and hairdressers are assumed to be gay because they chose to pick up scissors instead of a hammer. So isn't encouraging "men to get in touch with their feminine side" the first step to blurring the line of discrimination? Eventually, we will be able to remove the gender stereotypes that come with the words "masculine" and "feminine", but for the time being, baby steps are necessary, and this is one of them.

KTSamurai1 I disagree. So many actresses have been quite vocal about tiring of those questions, and yet they still have to do all of those interviews with all of the same old pointless, tired questions. Nobody bothers to make sure *they're* okay with superficial questions focusing only on their bodies, clothes, or characters' (or even worse, their own) sex lives...
@KTSamurai1

Amanda Mack Two wrongs don't make a right. I understand your point and I agree with you but all three of those people are doing a job, the interviewer included. A pop culture icon like Stephen Colbert or Jimmy Kimmel could have gotten away with it without any problem but this person likely doesn't have that kind of job security and probably needed these two to stick around and get some footage. Don't forget, she probably puts up with a ton of sexist bullshit herself, given her line of work. Besides, wouldn't it be nice if the kind of courtesy she extended to Mark was also extended to Scarlett? Or Jennier Lawrence? Or any female actor anytime they're interviewed?

Mark doesn't look bothered to me. Just as generally reserved and awkward as he always is... Hugh Jackman, Tom Holland and Chris Hemsworth all get similar questions to the ones Mark got here... Regularly.

I've never seen a woman get uncomfortable when asked questions like this unless they were actually new to the spotlight. It's almost like that's what they're there for. Tell me, do you complain when men are asked about their own physical appearance? Because if you don't, then you have no place to complain when women are. It matters little to me in any case. I think it's stupid that we as a society put so much emphasis on these celebrities. They're acting. They're doing their job, and that job happens to make a lot of money. But celebrities are no more special than anybody else. They worked hard to get where they are, but they don't have some secret or special ability in then that makes them worthy of interviews. Nobody cares what they have to say on politics any more than they should care what their neighbor has to say regarding the subject.

they should do this more often. Asking the really stupid questions to a man make them more obvious. I sometimes role my eyes when I see interviews where they ask woman questions to the actresses and man questions to the actors, but I see it and here it and that's how that works, so it is easy to ignore. When they ask those stupid questions to the actor, you get confused, because it brakes the status quo.

@@mickeye6428 yeah that won't happen. Because god forbid you see a boob in the US. Women can not even breast feed properly before someoen yells that she should put her tits away.
