Leigh Phillips who had to reconstruct the score for its rerecording was NOT happy to be repeatedly exposed to Franco Nero's butt....

But ... Did the producers tell Jerry Goldsmith that the film was set in Italy and not in the U.S.A.? and above all that it was not Rambo? the action music is over the top for such a bland and boring movie, MUSIC TOO AWESOME.

Jerry’s music is usually too good for whatever he’s scoring. Sometimes I think he picks movie bombs on purpose to emphasize this.

The book is excellent. Unfortunately it was turned into a hopeless screenplay. It might have worked better as a miniseries ​@@commandercaptain4664

I occasionally edit together Goldsmith suites. I thought of doing The Salamander but now I see there is no need for it. Yours is perfect.

This one seems to have slipped under the radar of many film score fans because the movie had such a limited release in the US. As usual, Goldsmith's music is the best thing about it--there are echoes of the other scores he was doing at the time, including OMEN 3.

"New recording"? You mean "only recording." The actual master tapes of the score as heard in the film were lost. This reconstruction by the City of Prague Philharmonic under Nic Raine is the only version available.

Yep. When I heard this, I immediately thought of the "Final Conflict" score. This movie was released in 1981, just like Final Conflict, so I'm sure some cross-inspiration might have been happening.

Merci Ricounet ^^ Il s'agit là d'une petite suite d'une musique composée par Jerry Goldsmith en 1981 pour un petit film "La Salamandre". Le master d'origine ayant disparu, aucun album n'existait sur le marché jusqu'à ce nouvel enregistrement en 2013, d'une qualité exceptionnelle.
