Cosmos (SOMA Lab) Deep Ambient Performance w/ Koshi Chimes, Cello & Guitar | Drifting Memory Station

Since I started as an 'artist' in 2019 making cello meditation music, it has been my dream to make real ambient music, live and free, without any framework or ideas beforehand, to be totally in the wonderful present and in the unknown which is the true sense of creativity. Today I got a new pedal, called Cosmos, by SOMA Laboratory and it's an 'anti-'loop machine as it doesn't loop typically and repetitively as a normal looper making it ever-changing and unexpected. Here I am trying the pedal for the first time (literally never used it before and this is completely fresh, so don't hate me if it's not good!), with koshi chimes, acoustic guitar and cello. I also use Strymon BigSky, TimeLine and the ElectroHarmonix MicroPOG. Enjoy this 15-minute performance. Close your eyes and go deep into the quantum field!

Hi David, I use one microphone for all instruments and plug it into a pre-amp (Eventide Mixing Link) which you can find below in the description of the video - see my signal chain. I hope this helps!

@@TheWongJanice Logically, it cannot be quite so simple, as it leaves the familiar terrain, like most of Vlad Kreimer's works. However, you have probably intuitively found a good mixture of softer sounds and rather short, slightly rhythmic parts, so that it has satisfied my usually rather high qualitative demands. I think his latest creation, the Flux, might also be interesting for your work.

Ah yes, there are many settings and modes and also I was thinking of trying the ‘rhythmic’ mode soon (you install it with a USB) as then it works more like a typical looper. I personally don’t ‘get’ how to work with short rhythmical sounds so I am glad my music has satisfied you. Thanks for sharing. I did not know about the Flux!

@@TheWongJanice You're welcome. I hope my assumption that the Flux might suit you, based on the type of music you make, wasn't completely wrong. My guess is, that the arhythmic mode is way better for your ambient style of music. The sentence "You install it with a USB" somehow tells me that your music is better than your knowledge of all these things that are far too complicated anyway and unfortunately often quite pointless. But in case you need help, feel free to ping me, that shouldn't be a problem for me. In return, you can teach me something about cellos.

@@Waldemar_la_Tendresse haha yes fortunately I can play the cello and have spent hours and years on it - can’t say the same about audio tech as it’s a newer part of my craft. But yes, I might not have used the correct wording but I am nonetheless happy that I understand the concept of changing the firmware with the flash drive if needed! Yes, from Comos -> mixer -> audio interface but you can go directly to the audio interface without mixer

awesome..........you'll also likely be interested in experimenting with some of the alternate firmware for the Cosmos.....I'd highly recommend the Rhythmic version (I've uploaded many Cosmos videos on my channel, if you're interested) .......Love this super minimal approach here..............And I'm into the Koshi chimes as well.......such a great sonic texture
