27:45 I think there’s already a comment on an earlier video describing the rules of what’s considered a “dead” ship in career mode, but I’ll repeat it here if you or anyone else is still unclear. There are three ways to kill a ship: 1. Destroy all reactors 2. Destroy all control rooms 3. Destroy all weapons and thrusters Generally, destroying all reactors is often the fastest way to kill a ship because of how fragile and explosive reactors are, but destroying control rooms or destroying weapons & thrusters tend to be more profitable as you get a lot more debris to loot, and you get the “salvaging” resource drop rate rather than the “destroyed” drop rate on the remaining parts (which includes reactors - those enriched uranium are pretty valuable!)

Quill, although there is no auto eject, you can, with right clicking the gather/mine button, choose to filter out steel and ammo and other less valuable loot.

I'm really loving the series Quill! Happy that you continued it, after you said in the beginning you were only gonna do a few episodes. I'm saving up to buy this game soon, to play with a friend.. After we've recovered from Factorio 2.0

NEar that gold asteroid, where you did the fight, there was actually a small loot capsule (think treasure chest). You missed it, they tend to blend into the space.

Random Station Member: “Hey what’s your ships name?” Redshirt: “IonBeam 2”. “Really?” Redshirt: “Yeah” Station Member: “What’s the name of the second ship then?” “Factory.” Station Member:” Your captain can’t name things huh? Is the name of the ships cat, Cat?” Redshirt: “How did you know?!?!?!”

Right clicking on the gather button can set your desired pickup whitelist for that particulair ship. Your kiting ship is doing well. It could fit two more forward going large thrusters to catch up with faster foes. Enjoy!

Just so you know, your attack direction saves orientation as well. Your flight direction can be whatever the heck you want it to be, and as long as your attack preset has the ship in the correct orientation, it will flip the ship around automatically and fire. Will be slightly awkward in clouds but entirely doable there as well. Biggest point of concern is your absolutely abysmal firing arc. Some of the later game ships show how they help widen up the arc while still protecting the core, and they're quite insane designs (but in no way required.) Some of my favorite funny designs are completely narrow, asymmetric ships that, when they get close to the enemy, rotate 90 degrees to broadside enemies. Not very effective, but funny.

Mining lasers and Deck Cannons are both top-mounted weapons that you can stick behind armour. Things that stick out the top like other top-mounted weapons and iirc sensors, maybe others, will block it's line of sight without mods, however(superfiring battleships are cool, darnit!).

You can right click the pickaxe button to filter stuff you gather, like no ammo

Being outside a nebula prevents from seeing anything inside I believe, once you enter the nebula you more likely get a visual. (Think of a nebula like a curtain sometimes.)

^this, except when things inside the nebula shoot, if they shoot while inside the nebula you can see from outside :)

Would it be useful to have a separate gunship with no cargo space and a looting ship that can haul a lot more but can't fight?

Crew is the main limited factor, so I mostly go for missions/targets that level Fame. I collect normally everything, slap on storage. Then hyperjump to a station and sell all iron and stuff not needed in the future, since then the mass does not slow movement, Hyperium is easy to get. Also do some mining rounds for valuables, using a fast small ship with some storage. Now going for level 7-9, unlocked all, stacking up on currency passed 2M.

You can filter out what is mined by right-clicking the mining button, so you don't pick up steel all the time.

Fly forward and shoot backards is the best way to build a ship. It doesn't make any sense to have your main combat engines causing your ship to get closer to the enemy ship.
