In my life, I've had a few dreams so vivid and intense, I can still remember them from when I was barely consious. Many were nightmarish or bizarre, a couple of them lasted for a few minutes while others seemingly went on for days. Often I found myself able to fly or rather float slowly into the air through intense concentration and movement. It helped when I was chased by things that wished me dead for simply imagining them. The most common aspect of each dream was its relativity to things that happened days or even weeks before, re-imagined to something unexpected and strange but familiar. All of it set in my childhood home, but never really inside it. And if I was inside it, I would need to escape it lest I die. Such a strange comfort my dreams provide. Akin to a hug from a skeleton, the remains of something that was once alive, its lifeless embrace is there to help you move on whilst holding you captive. Dreams have always been a delightfully horrific contradiction that exists in the mundane and unimportant. And yet they remain the most precious of things to us as we need them to live
