In this video I have broken down for you the exact costs of cooking two dishes in the air fryer, as compared to the cost of cooking the same dishes in my main oven. See how much each costs me and find out if the Cosori 4.7L Air Fryer really can save me money.

We are a family of four, working hard to eat healthily, live frugally, pay off our mortgage early and save/invest for retirement. We’ve lived below the poverty line for many years and have now got our heads above that line. Our household income remains well below the national average in the UK but we have paid off all of our debt, including our mortgage.
It’s all hands on deck to save and invest for our retirement and for our children’s futures. We hope that we can put them in a position where they don’t have to struggle financially, as we have, and that we can break the generational cycle of poverty that we have experienced.
We all have different issues with food, including food sensitivities, so I shop to work around those considerations.
If you have found anything in this video useful, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe for more healthy eating and frugal living with a debt-free purpose 😊.

So wonderful to see your happy positive face again. This was a great video as I was thinking of a new purchase of an air fryer and this seals the deal. My sister simply raves about hers...she loves it. Thank you Tess! Lots of love from Debbie And Dexter-Dog in southern California. USA. 🙏🙏👍👍🏄🏡🚴💝

I love my air fryer - which I bought after seeing your previous post about it. My only issue with it is that if you wanted to cook lots in there for one meal, everything would have to be kept hot. So for me it depends what I’m cooking. Jacket potatoes are great in there after being initially microwaved, just pop them in the air fryer for about 5 mins 🥰. Last night I cooked salmon in there and it was lovely 🥰

Great cost breakdown. We don’t have an air fryer and our family is bigger, but I’m trying to be more careful about oven use and batching baking to use less overall, and using the instantpot to bulk cook some things, too.

Not sure if you preheat for each meal but I never preheat with my air fryer and it always cooks fine so you might save some more electric use that way.

Thanks for mentioning that the main ovens thermostat means that it does not consume the full amount of electricity per hour. But the same applies to the air frier if it did not then the temperature would carry on rising until you had a basket full of cinders. The only way of doing a comparison is by using a power consumption meter on each appliance whilst cooking the same ingredients in each.

I’m thinking Christmas diner, I’ve been unwell for a while so haven’t made Christmas lunch for a while, but this year Jen will make a comeback! My son will help me out as we get on well in the kitchen included. Everyone’s favourite was my duck with my secret blackberry sauce. Don’t have an air fryer yet, don’t know which one to get, I’ve seen one with two drawers.

Great video ! I received an air fryer for Christmas last year and I use it nearly every day. I love the convenience of it, and the fact that it's so easy to clean. I'm going to try baking in it...wish me luck !

Those brussel sprouts look delicious! I think I’m going to try making some of them. Did you use a little bit of oil to coat the brussel sprouts and bacon with before cooking them? I’m glad the air fryer is saving you that much money vs using your big oven. Utility costs have gone absolutely crazy, you are doing a great job saving your family money! I have a natural gas stove/oven but I rarely use that oven. I have an electric mini oven with a convection setting that I use almost daily. The convection setting is basically like using the air fryer. The difference is that food is not sitting elevated up on a rack like it does in the air fryer. The convection setting forces the hot air around the food cooking it more quickly. I suppose if I placed whatever I’m cooking on a rack it would cook both sides without having to turn things over half way through the cooking time and mimic cooking in an air fryer. I do have an air fryer that I was given by my neighbor. I have yet to use it only because I tend to just use my mini oven instead of making room to plug in the air fryer.

My birthday is coming up soon and my Mom let me pick out an air fryer (I have a small one --but that's the problem...too small for a family...). I chose a Cosori! I'm not sure if it's the same model (I was listening to your video while taking a shower..."Mom Life!' ), but I was glad to hear that your Cosori works well and is energy efficient. The one that I chose says it's large enough to roast a whole chicken...or two pans of something--and that's what I was looking for. Thanks for the cost break-down!

There is more to the calculation though. When using a conventional oven, you're not constantly heating the whole time, when the heat reached your target temperature the heating element switches off and hold it there for a while. Whereas with an air fryer, the heating element and fan are going and drawing energy the whole time. Unless there're newer air fryers with a temperature sensor and work more like a conventional oven?

I bought an inexpensive one in the USA for $25.00. My husband loves it. Perfect size for 2 people. Using it in warm weather rather than the oven keeps my AC bills down, but in winter I try to cook at least 2 or 3 items in my oven for a meal. At least in cold weather the oven warms my house up a bit. I think our energy bills have been, at least in the past, cheaper than in the UK. But I think your food bill sounds cheaper than in the USA.

How do you keep things warm whilst other things cook - wouldn’t it be easier to have more compartments ? I am undecided about air fryers as there are only 2 of us. I mostly use the gas hob and slow cooker but everyone is raving about air fryers. But they are so expensive - it’s a lot of meals before the cost of buying the air fryer is written off.

You calculate the cost as I do and like you I know it is cheaper, but the big caveat is, the initial cost of the air fryer which is quite expensive. Your savings are true savings from the start as you were gifted your air fryer. I have not yet calculated the savings inclusive of the initial cost 🙂

I don't have an air fryer and I don't feel it would be worth having one for one person. I use my Hamilton Beach large toaster oven it has a tray large enough to cook a frozen pizza I bake with it and right now I have a 7 lb chicken roasting in my Nesco 6 quart roaster oven I like that because I can set the temperature like my oven without heating up the house. My my daughter decided she wanted to bake something in the oven last month and she asked me the last time I used it and I said Christmas she said it has cobwebs in it I said clean it out. I use it to store cookie sheets that I don't use.

Sorry to say mine (same Cosori 4.7 l) does. I have only started using it yesterday because of the plastic smell. Yes ,followed instruction and even washed the tray etc), but the smell lingered. Yesterday I bought some frozen chips and thought I should try those with a springle of mixed seasoning.....The chips tastes OK, but the m then was very smelly. Did the same today with the same result. Bought mine from Amazon New, but wondering if it was Returned item because it didn't have the stick side tags or the carton cross inside the tray. Not sure what to do next ! Similar probs from Amaxon: Sharp microwave this time. It rains eVer because of steam.😥 I previously had a Panasonic +for over 20 years) and it finally have up the ghost, but I never had any problems with that one. I have the front door slightly open to rid the smell and this is hours ago ! Amazon PR has gone downhill. I am to complain to Cosori 😏 Why bother selling if you can't replace Amazon ?
