But how durable is this? I've been skimming a lot of videos lately and it looks so incredible. But I can't help but to think that one good sneeze will make it all explode like Women's armor in Soul Calibur. So that's my biggest worry, how durable is it all?

I've cosplayed for a long time but I've never really "made" my costume from scratch. Sometimes I piece together different clothing articles and props to create a cosplay and other times I just buy one haha. I want to be Éowyn from LOTR dressed in the armor she wore in the 3rd movie. It has an intense amount of chainmail... It would be oh so cool if I could make it myself. Foam seems like a weird chain mail, but it looks easier... The drawback is that it won't have the nice chainmail noise lol.

That's great! I'm so excited for you to dive into the making process! For me, making the cosplay adds to the fun of it all! I'm so excited to see your Eowyn costume come together, it's going to be epic!!! The nice thing about the foam chainmail is it will be much lighter, as you said the major downside is you don't get that sound of the chainmail. I've made chainmail with real metal before and it was super cool, but it was so time consuming that I never finished making the full piece but this foam chainmail goes together so fast it's brilliant!

I’m here trying to figure out how to make chain mail for an Eowyn costume as well!!! My 8 year old is actually named Eowyn, and we’re going to a con were Miranda Otto is going to be this summer. So Eowyn will be meeting Eowyn while cosplaying as Eowyn! 😂 I’m so freaking excited!

No fingerprints!......That's why you use pliers....if your keen.....pvc chain mail is a bit better. Foam chain mail looks great though.

The amount I would need makes this so expensive to get and it wouldn't fold and move in a nice/realistic way. So I would have to torture myself by making real chainmail armor.

Sounds like you got a big project! :) I think he also has the pattern available for free if you have access to a laser cutter or a maker space you can just cut as many as you want and that might cut down on cost for you :)

@@CosplayApprentice The piece I'm planning on making goes from my shoulders to my knees so, yes. Its kind of massive. XD But making it myself isn't hard, it will just take time, a lot of time.

Yes, we have rolls that are about 5ft by almost 7ft that we are working on getting onto Amazon. :) Unfortunately Amazon's priority has shifted away from any non-essential items so we are trying to figure out how to get it into them and packaged the right way :)
