My 11 year old has been so into anime and cosplay for the last couple years. She has developed in detail a couple characters personalilties, backstories, everything. Shes been drawing for years and is quite good now. For Halloween she wanted to cosplay her main character. I love this video because it's super easy to follow. While his execution will not be of this caliber for Halloween in time we will be doing this version sometime down the road. Now to watch how to make ears. Thanks so much for the wonderful content. You are so very talented! Going to try and find your book since this was 2 years ago!

After assembling the Eva, I opted to directly hot glue the fur to the Eva foam instead of sewing it as a cover. It’s coming along perfectly!
@lilivic4 жыл бұрын
Hey there, fursuit maker here! I would highly advise against using super glue on foam board, or if you do please do a spot test first. I'm not sure what type of glue that you used, but when I tried using basic super glue on foam board, it ate away the board and produced chemical fumes. Just please be sure to be careful and research the materials you use and how they react to certain adhesives!
@KinpatsuCosplay4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes Superglue will melt the board just slightlyvand when the pieces are glued together it will pretty much fuse them! This is part of why this is the kind of glue recommended to work with PVC board for cosplay and prop making. I've been using it for many years now, and I can't say I've ever had it eat away at the board like you've said. :) But I do agree that PVC board is a very toxic material to work with in some situations, it can produce dangerous fumes when it's heated with a heatgun to be shaped. We always tell people to use a respirator when they do this of to do it outside.

Thinking this would be a great option for a skunk suit? what do you think?

@@Molly-yn2pq hi i made a skunk tail using this pattern last night! to get the white stripe I made pattern B white and cut the pattern into 3 pieces. I did not cut A and C into pieces and just used one singular cut.
@abradorable3 жыл бұрын
A quick suggestion is to swap the hot glue for 2 part epoxy when attaching your belt to the PVC board. It's a lot sturdier and if you live in a hot climate the hot glue may fail. Epoxy adheres to plastic a lot better than hot glue as well. Just a thought for those who find that hot glue doesn't do the job :)

Ugggh the fact that you gave so much detail is so amazing! Even down to the size of fabric. A lot of people would just say “any that fits your pattern” which is clear, but if they sell them in standard sizes which will allow me to get the most for my money? 35mm. I won’t be making this (at least I don’t think) I’m just fascinated by your content!

You would not believe HOW many times I have tried, and failed to make a working Squirrel tail for my Super Shiny Squirrel costume (AKA the ultimate distraction. I started with the idea of using an inflatable surfboard inside it, but it would stretch and wind up bending and making a upside down L shape. I tried using braided wires to make a framework inside, but again- no luck. I am going to watch this and take notes now, thank you SO much for making it!

Heads Up!!! As a first timer making a costume for Halloween, I'm not that knowledgeable about patterns and fabric, but what I learned is to REVERSE your pattern so it comes out right. I made the mistake of just doing it normally, 😅 and the fabric didn't fit right( Good thing that the fabric is quite forgiving, and I just added a little bit more fabric) 😊

I should remember this when I remake Lily's tail (an OC of mine). I want her tail to curl up and around, and it kind of does right now? But it's not stable, so it doesn't really lift as high as I want it to (this is largely because it's attached to just a belt, not a proper harness, I guess). (Edit: The only problem I see with this build is just how much hot glue is used. If I were to do this, I'd try to find other ways to pull off the same thing.)

Note to anyone taking this on. The linked bar was too long at 48" so you may have to be able to cut metal or bend the end over about 6" from the end. The 3rd hole isnt shown being used but you must use it. Also there is a part that is skipped showing you how to make a paper pattern with the duct tape pieces you cut off. If you havent done this before your foam tail wont likely be symmetrical like she says so youll have to either leave extra seam allowance so the cover is looser to accommodate or wrap the whole piece to make 4 pattern pieces. There were a lot of accommodations and plan b's I had to do but it is a good tutorial if you have access to a lot of crafting tools and are at least a little familiar with making these types of projects
