Thanks for showing your paint work. I've been thinking of how to paint my She-Ra outfit and your method might work better then what I had planned. If I can ask how did your helm work out. Are these your go-to materials for armor making right now? I know you've used a few different materials and types of worbla in the past. I guess certain thermoplastics are better for certain things, like the thibra being better for carved details.
@MangoSirene7 жыл бұрын
Yep! I use a mix of Black Worbla, Thibra, and EVA foam, depending on the type of project. For example, for Tifa's armor I used EVA foam since it's thicker and easier to carve into for scratches and that sort of weathering, but I wanted my Rapidash armor to be more form-fitting and have finer, sculpted details.

Wow Nina! Very well done with explaining the details in this cosplay. Not bad with it being an full armor build a a beautiful design too! Oh question, do you use office scissors to cut your worbla? P.S I ordered your pattern from simplicity and all though I'm still new to sewing, I'm excited to use it when I go back home for school uniform cosplays!!! :)
@MangoSirene7 жыл бұрын
Nope, I use sharpened craft scissors for cutting Worbla! I'd recommend getting some nail scissors for the small bits, too; it's a tip I unfortunately didn't hear until after making this build. xD And thank you so much for buying the pattern!! Let me know what you think of it! :D

For that heat device you use on the worbla, would a hair dryer work? Or would you recommend that thing? Is it costly?
@MangoSirene7 жыл бұрын
It's a basic heat gun, only $20 from Home Depot! Blowdryers don't get hot enough to thoroughly and effectively heat thermoplastic, especially over large surfaces.

I'm trying for my first armor build this year, so I'm super happy that you posted a work vlog for your build! How was mobility in this costume? I always end up killing my mobility with any armor like bits.
@MangoSirene7 жыл бұрын
Mobility was overall fine, other than the shoes, which made walking difficult! Ultimately I did decide not to wear the hand guards I made since they interfered with the bracers at the wrist junction and made it too hard to bend my wrists, which I didn't want to risk when my balance was so precarious. So I left those in the room on the day of wearing it. xD Everything else was very mobility-friendly, though!

Where did you get the vinyl straps you used here? I need something like that but I cant find any straps like that on the internet- the closest I have found is seatbelt material.....
@TheFlauschig7 жыл бұрын
Straps like that are usually all self-made. Instead of looking for straps, start looking for the material you want them to be made from and sew them yourself.
@ormitomimus7 жыл бұрын
Hii, very cool cosplay! :3 I just wondered about that staff, how exactly did you make it separatable (idk if this word exist :D how can you divide it into 2 pieces I mean x__x)? O.o I only have rough idea, but I'm not exactly sure how you made it. T_T
@izzywizzy514-voiceactress47 жыл бұрын
For the staff prop that is made in the video, the stick and the flame are bother two separate parts, that simply are put together to make the prop that you see her carry ! Hopefully I answered your question

At the risk of sounding creepy, how did you form the chest plate? I imagine the process differed than what you demonstrated with your arm.
@izzywizzy514-voiceactress47 жыл бұрын
For the chest plate, though it is not said in the video, is made from Worbla as well ! You can kind of assume this from the context she uses as she's talking of it in the same group of pieces she did specify and show her making !

How come you didn't have to sand the weapon when you coated your weapon in Modge Podge but you did have to sand it when painting the Worbla on your armor? I do understand that you said the weapon was last minute so was time the only reason or did you actually not have to sand it?

@izzywizzy514-voiceactress47 жыл бұрын
The gems are resin gems ! She simply used clear nail polish to stick it to a gold sheet, then she put clear nail polish over them again to give it a bubbly effect, though the bubbly effect was not fully intentional.

@caphtan14127 жыл бұрын
Why did you used the black Worbla?
@izzywizzy514-voiceactress47 жыл бұрын
I believe she used the Worbla to get the fine texture and shape of the armor, to make it more sturdy and less likely to come apart than other cosplay armor materials ! Since it is a thermoplastic modelling sheet, you can get those really small details on your cosplay without having to worry about it not sticking well enough and falling off during the convention, or any other cosplay mishaps like that !
