Just measure the square area and do the calculation. It's very easy. For example, if the bed is 8' by 15' by 40" . You can break everything down to inches then multiplied and devide by 61.023 to get the sq/m , 1728 for sq/ft or 46,656 for sq/yrd

They is more in making blocks. It depends on what the blocks are for, as a general contractor I would not appreciate the homeowners' piling blocks for my crew, that can cause over work.

Thanks for your prompt response. Your videos are really helping me. I watched one of videos in which you were putting your ground beams on the footings. I’m embarking on a G+1 storey as I have said earlier, but I understand that ground beams are made depending on the soil texture, prevent cracks and if the soil is water logged. I would like you to kindly tell me the importance of the ground beam and is it necessary to raise the ground beam if your land is not water logged? Thanks
@Lerwincel3 жыл бұрын
Your understanding about ground beams is right. Buildings settle after construction so the plinth beams help the the building settle as one unit, thus, crack prevention. Our place is not water logged but we still had plinth beams cos of the benefits indicated. Think of it as the braces for the leg of a chair, without it the chair will stand but with the slightest load the legs will not support the load as a single unit so the chair will wobble. That wobbling in the chair will be the cracks in buildings

1 Trip of sand = GHC 1000 to GHC1200 (px a little more if u prefer to use quarry dust) 40 bags of cement = GHC47 to GHC50 per bag GHC15 to GHC20 as workmanship for each bag of cement One tank of water (1800 to 2500 liters)

Love your context! No offense but the reason why your blocks are white it because you are using less Cement but more sands...for a stronger blocks and quality, you should use at least 2.5 bags of Cement for 30 blocks. Thats when you see the quality. That'll prevent cracks in the future. I highly advice anyone watching this video to use more Cements for their blocks to prevent cracks in the future! No offense to the video! Always love yours contents...learning so much

Hello boss, all your videos are much appreciated. Just to ask, between a 14mm and 16mm iron rod, which is best to be used for a beam. Also what should be the diameter for its stirrups, 10mm or 8mm. This is for a G+1 building. Thanks
@Lerwincel3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the span of the beam as well as presence of load bearing blocks below. If load bearing blocks below and span is less than 12ft then 14mm with 8mm stirrups is okay for a regular residential G+1 building. For the dimension, a width of 6in just as the load bearing blocks and 10in deep should be fine. Remember, however, I am not an Engineer :)

@Lerwincel3 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting response :) That is the formula for calculating volume (length x breadth x height). The problem is getting those dimensions. I was able to determine the one in the video was 19.3 cubic meter cos i got the dimensions online. Thanks for the effort though

With the hollow blocks, as far as the sand is concerned, do you add quary dust or it’s only the normal sand and cement as done with the solid blocks. Thanks

Only the normal sand is used without quarry dust

@Lerwincel3 жыл бұрын
I take am, director. Cimaf ok. We used it for some of our pillars and foundation concrete. You only need to make sure it is 42.5R or 42.5N and NOT 32.5 R/N. It is written boldly on the package.

Wow this is indeed a great teaching and and really learning a lot from you. Thanks for the answers given. Is it advisable to cast your whole footings to getter with your beam, or it’s best to apply concrete on only the beam and cast the whole footings afterwards. You applied the concrete on the ground beam first before casting the whole and others do otherwise. Which is best and why did you apply the concrete to the beam first before casting all. Thank you boss
@Lerwincel3 жыл бұрын
What i did is a plinth beam so okay to cast separately else you will need a formwork for the slab since it will not be efficient to make you slab as thick as a 10in beam. You are however right on the point of casting together if there is no plinth beam. That is, German cast not the best
