The DTV Visa has a one-time fee of 10.000 THB for the 5 years validity, not 10.000 THB every 6 months. I have not paid anything when entering Thailand the last 3 times with my DTV. Btw. thanks for great videos 🙂
@stormstereo15 күн бұрын
Correct. And if you remain in Thailand instead of leaving and coming back every 6 months, you pay 1900 THB for an extension. Edit: One can extend once, for a continued stay of 180+180 days before having to leave and reenter. In practice, it means leaving the Kingdom every 12 months instead of every 6 months.

@stormstereo14 күн бұрын
@@zacghent8564 No, you have to visit Immigration. From a Thai Embassy in Finland web page: "[DTV] Extension of Stay: for another 180 days is possible at the Thai Immigration Bureau. After the maximum stay of 180+ 180 days, DTV holders are required to depart from Thailand and re-enter Thailand again within the visa validity."

If I have to live in Thailand forever in my early 50s now, at least $3K on monthly pension will be enough PLUS $100K of savings for emergency. I used to live in Pattaya for 6 months of 2023 and I budgeted that amount. Back in Cali working & planning to retire around 2026.

I was so happy to see the final estimate of costs in the video and I 100% agree with you to have a savings reserve. I live in Chiang Mai for 30k baht per month. Realistically i only spend 20-25k baht when i am busy and mostly studying or working. I don't drink nor party. I live in a small luxury condo but room size is 30 m2 so it's not for everyone. My ED visa is 100-150 bucks a month so u can add it to the sum. Still i would say 30k is doable in chiang Mai. Depends on the person
