Lol your math is missing around 25 other expenses. Basically you'll need 100k minimum income because taxes and cost of all essentials are some of highest in the world.

your forgetting utilities, internet, phone bill, renter insurance. if you own a car: car insurance, gas, yearly repair costs and parking. depending on the city, that's an additional 5 - $600. and that's still excluding the student debt if your fresh out of school.....

wow congrats, you are lucky, leave that place and see how much you will pay. Thats like me saying I used to pay 1750 for a 4 bed 4 bath house over 2k square feet pre-pandemic and i would have been paying that if the owners did not decide to come back and live in the house and kick us out. Some people have locked in rates, dont compare rarity with actuality of living in Canada. You are just bragging you got a better rate compared to the rest.

Smaller cities where a car is more often required... Replace the gain made with cheaper rent with the car payment, car insurance,and gaz and you come up to pretty much the same price. Some services are also more expensive on average like Wifi in smaller cities with less competition.

Beware of numerous fraudulent rental listings! For instance, someone might advertise a 3-bedroom apartment for just $1900, but such offers should be treated with skepticism. These listings often lead to poorly maintained and unsafe basements. Additionally, these deals are highly unlikely to be legitimate. If you explore platforms like Kijiji or other rental apps, you won't find any genuine listings at $1,900, especially in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Toronto itself. Renting a single-room studio apartment usually starts at around $2,000 per month, with the typical range being between $2,200 and $2,500. It's important to note that property management companies do not accept subletting. This means that you cannot assume an existing lease with lower rates, as such arrangements are typically not permitted.

@dillamadukes21
@dillamadukes21 11 ай бұрын
@@TheCertifiedLegend There either trolls or fellow Canadians relaying the very REAL and UNSUSTAINABLE raise in the cost of living in this country. I'm from a minority immigrant background and Toronto just isn't the same city of my boyhood. No metropolitan city can sustain itself when middle class households can just barely hold their heads above water with bills and other costs of living. The city in recent years (as a consequence of the rampant inequity) has been plagued by a growing homelessness epidemic with wanton drug and substance abusers becoming more common. The sense of safety and security I felt as a boy on public transit and other public spaces is gone. I can't imagine the level of insecurity that people belonging to more vulnerable demographics must feel in public. Call me cynical, but I suspect that Canada's pro mass immigration policies are merely a means to mask all of the social and economic challenges the country faces due to an aging working population, low birth rate, and a loss of skilled labor to more attractive migrant destinations. As for migrants feeling "valued", skilled Indian and African migrants working fast food, Uber, and other miscellaneous "gig economy" jobs are a cliche in this country. Walk through the wealthy parts of the city core and observe who the "winners" in this society are. The economic and ethnic lines are closer than most would like to acknowledge. It's ironic that you satirize our neighbour's to the south as "freedom trolls" when the vanity of your own Canadian nationalism precludes you from taking a healthy, critical look at the weeds growing in your own back yard.
