Galatone has 3 small supermarkets and 1 medium supermarket (which doesn't close in the afternoon), and there is a Conad superstore just 20 minutes away outside Lecce. However, there are numerous fruit & veg stands, meat & cheese stores, salumeria's and bakeries/pasticceria's throughout this small city which have better prices than the supermarket.

Galatone does have choices for supermarkets and small markets. Prices are very low. Much lower than other areas in puglia

@@carolc1543 Yes, we found Puglia is really easy to get around, since it is quite flat, if you have a car. And there are many smaller towns and villages (like Galatone) a short distance from the main tourist locations which are much less expensive than the tourist destinations which are only a few minutes away.

I lived in Bari. I liked it but I wish I made much more money. Sorry. Frustrations of living in Europe. I like traveling. Yes. You need basic Italian. A lot different than other parts of Italy. I spoke broken Italian but most people I felt a great rapport with that they felt they understood me unless they were being kind. I felt I understood their expressions. Im was born and raised in NY in Brooklyn. My moms side is Italian American although my mom was not taught Italian. Her mom was from Sicily( she migrated at 9 so she felt American because she learned English and spoke it like a native New Yorker). My maternal grandfather grandparents on both sides were from the Naples region. Another words American. My paternal side is Irish American. Very typical in NY and NJ and the northeast. Half the people are like me. Bari was great like I said. I enjoyed the connections with the people. I liked comparing the differences. I loved the differences. Fun!! I felt like I was treated so well! My British friends there felt I was treated better than them because Italians were so interested in talking to me. Great! Espresso was great plus the hot chocolate ( in the USA it’s like our hot chocolate pudding. So amazing ). I used to get excited that my British friends thought it was more of an American trait. American friends said NY trait lol. Tell Americans and British. I left living in Florida after 7 years. Too hot! They half 4 seasons. I saw snow in Bari in the morning that Italian friends there took pictures. Matera or inland got snow. Bari was an inch but gone by 8 or 9 am. At night at 10 I felt it was cold and I love cold weather. But at 10 pm in winter I felt it was in the 30s deep chill it 2 or 4 celcius. When I got home it was 10 or 11 or 50 to 52. Usually went down to 6 or 42. Early mornings felt like below 0 Celsius or under 32 Fahrenheit. It was only 6 or 42. 6 am. Loved my time there. I am still in touch with many there. Unforgettable time. I saw so much. It did take time to get to the north by train. Changing trains. Etc. Tuscany took 8 to 9 hours. One change. Like I said if you like traveling like I do and history like I do as an American, you have to budget. The salaries are low! Cost of living is lower. But you must budget and be patient. Many I know like British I met who traveled less than I did and just took day trips here and there immersed into the culture going to cafes etc. Restaurants. Then it’s ok. I liked going everywhere but to see castles palaces ruins museums they would look at me with 5 heads. I love history. I just wish I made more like double. Then I would have been in heaven. Being over in Europe grounded me more as I am back in the USA in NJ. Friends I grew up with and family are all into consumerism that I hate. They spend ridiculously on everything. Restaurants trips getting a new car every 2 to 3 years or leasing. Clothes shopping and flat screen TVs and electronics I can’t relate to. They look at me like don’t I want to spend like they do? I don’t like that part of American life. Too much. Italy I like that lifestyle more laid back. They don’t think of ridiculous spending.

@@DramaticallyExpatic I loved it. I would love to go back to live there. Sometimes it is hard with family aging. I love the lifestyle of Italy. Right balance. American consumerism is too much. So much more since I was younger 80s and 90s. Too much now. I love travel and history. I love my ancestral origins from Italy.

This would be more helpful with more specificity. When you mention an increase, for example, by what %?
