People in the USA have been used to cheap food stuff services for decades if not centuries because of many things slavery undocumented labor toxic farming practices where you dont factor in enviromental toxic practices the fact you print so much money with out gold backing it all that stuff is coming to end quickly.... and the women in spain is delusional I just saw a video about a spanish women taht wants out of spain because the government is allowing many people to stay in renteded properties for 2 3 5 year with out paying rent because they are not building enough social housing spain is poor and it wont remain cheap for long...

I retired at age 53 and am now in my early 60s. Many people resisted me because they couldn't understand the idea of not working if you don't have to. I considered my life to be in phases. I worked very hard to achieve what I have now, but in my last years, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses." After I retired, I left the nation and now reside in Latin America. I was able to enjoy my new surroundings and escape from all the bad things that were going on in America. I haven't yet encountered anyone who laments their retirement.

Nice way to retire. For me, I believe retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My wife and I both spent same number of years in the civil service, she invested through a wealth manager and myself through the 401k. We both still earning after our retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.

My grandmother retired at 70 and her husband has passed so she gets his as well. She is not enjoying her retirement though because she has 3 drug addict children who moved in to "help her" when her husband passed and is now stealing from her and living off her until she passes. It's so sad but when I took up for her I was the bad guy because she said she could finally "keep her family together" They had her sign power of attorney and make a will to give them the house and her social security. It's just sad she's allowing herself to be used like that I miss my Opa he was tough but he really protected her in many ways

Broke, hmmm well you may have seen me as a child in a UNICEF commercial on TV. I was so poor growing up in a shack by a swamp that the mice stopped coming. I went to school with rich British kids that wore expensive clothes, had 9 course lunches, owned horses, had a Cannon camera's in the 1960's and travelled to Europe most summer's to visit Paris and Italy. That's how I became rich in retirement and so I understand what younger people are facing in these very hard times.

@@JoshuaTrinityWolf-dc4up You don't have a monopoly on poverty, before the 1930's ninety percent of all people living in rural America had no electricity, used outdoor toilets, wood burning stoves, outdoor wells, lived off dirt with no UNICEF. The nation went to work building the dams, electrical systems, gas lines, highways, bridges, factories, railways that created the means to produce a better life. Exactly. He pretended to be empathetic to people when all he was really doing was pontificating and being condescending. You have college graduate, who can’t even find jobs so how are they supposed to be prepared? They literally worked for free during their internship and maybe they worked a part-time job in the evening and on the weekends. Some people skipped college together and then others depleted whatever emergency fund they had waiting for unemployment checks to hit during Covid lol once inflation starts kicking peoples asses, that coupled with life and if you have health issues that is well, What emergency fund do people have? People like him who have a decent income and have a combined income with his wife say shit like that. Some peoples industries were completely nonexistent after Covid. And the job market is really bad right now. There are multiple TikTok compilations about people who went through 13 rounds of interviews just to get rejected for a job position. I personally wouldn’t do more than three rounds of interviews, but you understand my point. People who haven’t been able to find a decent job since Covid may have had to take a little eye jobs or low pay jobs and once you do that, you don’t have any money. People also can’t afford to pay for school. Shawnee, KS Has put a ban on household being able to have more than two unrelated people living in the same home. Even if there’s three related people in the home and there’s just one person who’s not related to everyone, that living arrangement won’t work. The privileged homeowners in the areas were upset about seeing so many people living next to them when they really should’ve just minded their own business.

"The quality of living"? Are you kidding? First of all, What is "quality of living"? Spain is cheaper if compared to The USA standards and cost of living, yes is a fact, its also cheaper compared to other norther european estates too. However in the USA, job opportunities, individual empowerment, entrepreneurship, tech, business eficiency, reliability and commitment is way ahead. In Spain there are no jobs, after 40 yrs old, barely no opportunitiesto find jobs. High taxes, most Spaniards live in constant anxiety if they will ever reach the end of the month to meet all their bills or as they colloquially say ;"month to month. Average pay is roughly 900€ net pay (monthly). You may find a cheap coffee around 1.50 € in small towns where the economy is stagnated or no jobs are found ( depressed areas or towns). Average Sapniards can't afford to save to pay for a house ( which are small when an American compares average house size. Almost every aspect in Spain is politicize. Housing rent is 500€ average in small towns but in larger areas or province capitals your salary will not be able to afford for rent.

As an Aussie the US health system is criminal. I pay $35 per month for dental & optical. I get 2 free cleans per year. 2 free checkups per year. Any x-ray is free if they're concerned about a tooth. Plus, I get hundreds of dollars off the bill if I require any work done. I needed new glasses the other week, Two pairs of glasses came to $700. They had a deal on at the time for any 2 pairs of glasses for $199. And with my insurance the bill was bought down to $19. If you need the hospital in an emergency, it's free.

I can tell you from personally experience that our health system and the health insurance is a joke. I got diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer at the beginning of Dec of 2023 it took 3 months to get that diagnosed because my insurance didn't deem the imaging as f-ing necessary (Oct 2023), once the insurance was able to approve the imaging the hospital that is close to my home didn't have an opening until the next month (Nov 2023), my primary DR went on vacy so I couldn't do anything until she came back to sign off the order to get a biopsy done. Earliest appt the hospital had was Dec 2023. Don't even get me started with getting treatment to kick the cancer. My insurance kept dragging their feet to approve my treatment and the bullshit they used to not approve my treatment was again it was not life changing or necessary treatment. I pretty much had to be dying for them to approve anything. I'm still fighting the cancer. I'm still advocating for myself and most importantly not letting anyone tell me that my life does not matter. The sucky part was I worked for this insurance and they laid me off while I was on medical leave. Long story short our health system and health insurance needs to change for the better...

I was born in 98 but I'm truly embracing an older style of living. I live in a small town in eastern Oregon, I sold a lot of extra stuff I had laying around (us Americans just have too much stuff) I made pretty decent cash just selling stuff cheap. Right now I'm in the process of building a little cabin on my property and I have an old pickup truck I paid cash for cheap. I have deleted a lot of extra emails and social media accounts and spend a lot less time on my phone. I have no debt and my bills are less than $300 a month. I work when I want and am planning to go on some trips and maybe even go to Europe. I'm exercising more everyday, walking a lot more like Europeans do and I'm cutting out processed foods and carbs. I think we keep trying to go after new cars, phones, have payments, big houses, buy expensive coffee, etc when in reality I've never felt more free just minimalizing and living a slower life. But it's not for everyone . I think you could even live this way in the big city if you did it right.

I rented for most of my adult life and hated it. I bought a couple of acres of land in NW Georgia, built my home, and retired in that order. I was always in debt, living paycheck to paycheck every month, and never saved a dime for retirement. Luck smiled on me when I became a homeowner in 2017 and retired in 2022. Everything I have I own outright. No mortgage, no rent, no car payment. I turned 62 on June 6 of this year. I have no debt, and I've positioned myself financially to weather any political or financial storm that may arise in the future. I can empathize with anyone who is struggling financially. But I'm here to tell you never to give up and to remain consistent. Live responsibly, and be selective about who you associate with or allow into your personal life. Learn how to cook your own food and live a healthy lifestyle. Your attitude, mindset, and level of knowledge will absolutely determine your future.

Late 70's and on is when the stay at home moms started working outside the home. Due to interest rates, low pay, and prices, it took the income of both parents to keep their standard of living. I remember my parents celebrating because my dad got a .25 cent raise per hour. That was $10.00 extra a week before the government took their share. They will never overhaul the insurance system. American healthcare workers get paid too much money and they can't reduce costs, because they have to pay all those high salaries for doctors, PA's, Np's RN's, radiology techs & still make a profit.. people working these positions usually get paid over $100k per year plus benefits. There is too much money in the healthcare/insurance industry and it won't change.

Unfortunately, Hair care is in necessity rather than a luxury for women who have a certain hair type i.e. if you have Afro textured hair. You either have to keep it braided, which cost money or you have to buy expensive products to keep it healthy and moisturized. If you don’t have natural hair, then keep your mouth shut. I can’t just wash my hair and pull it back in a ponytail. My hair will tangle, get matted and break off within days. I did make up for years so make up is not an issue. I have plenty of make up. I stopped getting my nails done, but I still get my feet done because I have chronic foot problems that I’ve had since I was a child and my podiatrist recommended that I keep my feet smooth and callus free and keep the tissue in my feet and legs broken up so I get pedicures and massage once a month. I’m also prone to ingrown toenails because my foot problems caused me to walk improperly. So y’all really need to watch out for making assumptions. I pay $337 a month for private health insurance. I was recently let go from my job and thankfully my health insurance is private pay and not through my employer. I wish somebody would’ve talked about the cost of auto repairs now. I used to be able to get an oil change for like 70 something dollars. Now an oil change is over $100 lol. I have an old ass car (2008). And tiresssssss my goodness: a few months ago looked at the price of tires for my car from 2021 and, what I paid for two tires is now the price of one tire. I didn’t get the same tires, but I’m just making a point. My cell phone bill has gone up, streaming services have gone up (I only pay for KZbin. I pay for it because I don’t want the ads because I have to listen to my sleep meditation and those ads will interrupt my meditation). I don’t pay for the other ones because I use my moms and my sisters lol. I pay for Amazon prime because I’m a Home baker and get lots of supplies from there. I also have to pay for delivery services like Instacart and target 360 because I need someone to carry my bags of the stairs for me. I also use a laundry service and I tip very generously for any service that I use that include to delivery or someone doing work that’s physical limitations. Keep me from doing temporarily. I can’t do for myself. The only thing I really do is go to the gym, go to the doctor or physical therapy and come home. I eat a high protein diet because I lift weights. I have Pilates which I have to have because my range of motion has improved drastically and my doctors have been impressed with the progress I’ve made and it is helped with my pain. I don’t have a social life and I don’t go out or do anything. I’ve basically just use all of the money that I would use for any social activities or shopping, etc. to pay for medical expenses and fitness stuff, which ultimately is a medical/health expense as well. This individualistic society that we live in kind of makes me happy that I don’t have a lot of friends. I pretty much just put my attention into my health and my family. I would love to do lots of shopping, but the cost-of-living doesn’t allow that type of leisure. I complain to my property manager a few months ago about the fact that we hadn’t been able to use our balconies for several months and yet my rent increased by $50. I made it very clear that I was only gonna continue to pay the rent increase if I was able to access every inch of my apartment, and my balcony is included in that. Well, she spoke to corporate and they took the rent amount off of my apartment until they’re finished with the balconies Speak up to people like your landlords and others because you never know what the outcome may be. Of course, do it respectfully because you may be surprised how they’re willing to negotiate on certain things. I don’t understand the life of smokers are still able to afford to smoke right now. My mom has been a smoker since I was a child but she will go long periods without smoking. When my mom begins smoking again, it’s never really a surprise but we do it because my mom can go a year or two without smoking and then she may start smoking again. Then she’ll stop after about six months and then she’ll start up again three months later lol. Then she’ll stop smoking for another two years, wash, rinse and repeat. 😂 I can’t imagine people who smoke a pack a day being able to reconcile spinning that type of money on cigarettes, but habits are expensive and hard to break. Utilities are totally different discussion because they play entirely too much. I do my best not to run my major appliances during peak hours. I literally stopped paying on my collections account because I paid off three accounts and collections that I didn’t know were there because I put in an address change and they were still sending mail to my old house. I didn’t even know those bills existed, but I paid the bills off nonetheless and that is a huge mistake. I paid off all those collections Off and my credit score only went up, two points for each account. Despite all of that, I still am able to find it in my heart to be generous and to look out for people who are in the worst position than I am so there’s absolutely no justification for these multimillionaires and billionaires to be hoarding all the goddamn resources when their resources combined could all get rid of the homeless crisis in this country. There is literally no justification for an eight car garage unless you have children who have cars. All you need is one vehicle for yourself and an additional in case that needs repairs and to be honest, if you have that much money, you can just rent a car in that situation. I can find two cars per adult practical but nothing more. The people who were victims of the hurricanes in the south east region of the United States haven’t received any help from the multimillionaires and billionaires. They have been receiving help from regular, working class people who are already struggling. People who don’t have very much extra, have made sacrifices to help people that are in a worse position than they are, and that’s usually how it goes.

Although I’ve been actively using both, my iron is nowhere near where it needs to be. My $337 health insurance won’t cover an iron infusion and if I pay for it out-of-pocket, it’ll be anywhere from $700-$1800. I’ve used most of my “emergency fund” to pay for multiple medical expenses. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of investing in the stock market and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

I'm a life long Californian, the cost of housing is incredibly high in most areas. Some of us live in the outskirts, where the cost of housing is a lot reasonable. For example I live 45 minutes from downtown sacrament in the Sierra Nevada foothills, which an absolutely beautiful. Homes in my area average about 450 thousand to own. Nice 3 bedroom homes. Also I built my home four years ago in a gated community for less than 250 thousand, so I know it's possible if your willing to work for it. It's a 2000 Sq. Ft. Home on a half acre. Stop complaining and find a solution. By the way the Sierra Nevada foothills are heavily republican. Most of us do not fill a part of california.

In New Hampshire a nice house is $500,000 but where I live the average is well over a million. I own my house, don’t have a car payment and very rarely go out to eat. Oh one last thing before you bash on California from the Midwest what’s your heating bill and your cooling costs during the summer. Depends on where you are in Europe. Major cities are expensive. Low key countries and outlying towns are dirt cheap

Sadly, we lost our patriotism starting in 2008 with freaking Obama when he was talking down about his own country and apologizing for the past From then on, it’s been a complete disaster

I took so much for granted back in the good ol days. I was never “rich” but at work I was buying coffee almost every day. I would get my hair done 3 times a year at most and I had enough money to buy myself clothes and once a week I would go out to eat with friends. Never would consider myself an over spender. But now I drink instant coffee from home, going out to eat would be picking up fast food to just get fries for my kids when we travel out of town to visit my husband who has to work away from us because cost of living is not affordable where we were at. I haven’t gotten my hair cut in two years. I don’t use makeup anymore, decent quality makeup is too expensive and groceries are much more important. Nowadays buying anything for myself gives me anxiety.

There’s nothing to live for anymore. Zero motivation to wake up in the morning. Hard work gets you no where. That’s very demoralizing.

I agree. The women in the USA are horrifying, COL is insane, everyone’s rude and angry. It’s bad.

I think part of the problem is everything has become so normalized that we just buy and do things with the thought that they are necessary and you cant get around it... like cell phones for instance. Our cell phone bill is 427 a month!! For 4 lines . Wtf..😢 but, its become normal to think qe NEED these things to live. So, we pay it. Im in my late 40s and i can remember thinking how ridiculous it was to pay 60 a month for a land line... so we literally didnt have a phone because we didnt think it was something worth the expense. Back then if it sounded expensive, you just skipped it..and lived without, but now we accept it and live with the burden of the expense.

So, leave L.A... DUH! So obvious, yet she is steadily complaining. She thinks she is too good to live in a "lesser" neighborhood and she feels she is entitled to a garage. Lots of people in this country, don't have a garage. You don't even get bad weather in LA, why do you need a garage? 🤦‍♀🤦‍♀🤦‍♀

Now I understand why my father moved from The US to the Dominican Republic to retire. I paid 16 USD for cleaning without insurance 😅, by the way one of the most expensive dentist.
