A four-day-wedding travel, lodging, food, clothes, entertainment in a gorgeous setting, all for $28,300 dollars. That's dirt cheap. Some people's rings cost more than that. This is money well-spent. I'd do it too. I don't have a bethroted though, there'd be some work in that but that's well worth the money.

You seem to forget that those who live in the US and Europe also pay everything in their currency. I’ll give you an example. If you take my salary for example, and move me to Turkey with the same Salary I would be rich! However, here I’m nowhere close to being rich. The ones who are able to travel and enjoy vacations are the ones who are able to save; and the vast majority of people in the West simply can’t save now. For example a huge percentage of Americans, 70% approx, live pay check to pay check. Meaning they don’t have extra money to spend on vacations and other luxuries. I bet you there is a higher percentage of homeless people in the US than in Turkey (if you don’t count refugees).

Cheaper than what my iranian wife's parents demanded we spend haha. She said the reason they wanted us to spend so much is because in their culture, weddings are kind of a way of showing off the parents' social standing, so even if they are poor or middle class, it's not uncommon for weddings in iran to cost >30 grand. Ours cost I think like, 32 grand, when we only wanted something small cos we're both introverted and easily socially drained.
