I never get tired of your videos dude. Showing that the reality of living in paradise is the same reality of living anywhere. That people have choices even if they don't make tons of money. Simple living can be enjoyable.

I think living in Costa Rica is all about living the simple life and it does determine wants and needs so if you have the budget you can get whatever you want if you have a budget then you just live simply and you can live on less than $1,000 a month. I wouldn't deter anyone from living in Costa Rica for less than $1000 a month but do your homework and know where you want to live and how much it's going to cost you. Surely problems and stuff is going to come up but that is anywhere, your refrigerator might break down your bike might break down your car might break down but it's better ,you know, if you have some kind of a nest egg to back up those unexpected costs. I believe the key to living in Costa Rica is When in Rome do what the Romans do in other words you eat what Costa Ricans eat you don't buy things that you can only buy in another country like the United States, peanut butter, butter, and cheese are very expensive but if you buy stuff that is grown here you can eat for very cheap I've lived on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica for over 10 years for less than $600 a month so anybody can do it

I tried getting my drivers license two times, both times I was completely stressed out every session. So I never had the high cost of a car, fuel, inspections, insurances etc. etc. and that put me on a different path than most people: I didn't need to earn much. I didn't need to stress about a career, only earning a living. I could pursue screenwriting and although I lacked the absolute desire to succeed (it didn't mean that much to me, it's just something I liked doing) I wouldn't wanna miss that time. And now I'm in Costa Rica. And I never lived that great before. The nature. The wildlife. The views. People who don't care or can't begin to care about a lot of money. People who just want to live their life and not be fazed by all those societal standards. Don't get me wrong, I still work 40 hours a week. But it's because I choose to and there's still SO much time left after work. I feel blessed having come here.

@@TravelCostaRicaNOW I'm an introvert, our brains are like sponges, I suck up information 24/7, everything, I can't filter, or at least it's too hard. So driving, when peoples lifes are at stake... that's just too much, man. I think it's not just only an introvert thing but also. The advantage is, I never forget anything, at least if it's not part of my daily routine. I use my camera a lot and shoot photos, it slows me down, my brain, my senses, it gives me peace. And I think I became a (hobby) writer for the same reason. Sort through all that information and give it a purpose.

I wouldn't recommend relocating to Costa Rica without having a cash reserve either. Yes, you may be able to get by on $1200 a month or sometimes less, as long as nothing majorly bad happens. But cash in the bank allows you flexibility to deal with adversity. Let's say your landlord decides to jack up the rent for example. Having a reserve allows you the time to look for another place.

Mike, Michael if someone like my father Inlaw can live (get by) in Miami,Florida with only having a retirement check of $1064.I don’t see how a person with $1000. Can’t find a better way to live in CR. Costa Rica is expensive but not more so then Miami. Now yes my Inlaw lives in an efficiency half the size of your Tico house but also has a small Toyota truck that he pays INS,gas and repairs on it. His rent is $675. For the efficiency so he’s basically just getting by. He’s a U.S.A. citizen but was born in Nicaragua and doesn’t want to go back there after 40 years even though I think he would have a much more active and social life with his income in Nicaragua or Costa Rica. Yes I know about the SOB in control there. Now I’m like you & can easily live in a Tico house without fancy things and nothing to worry about. I would try/do the 90 day travel/force vacations and would look into hiring a person to come in to clean and cook my dinner instead of going out so much. I mean if I can get a $300.rental that would definitely make my $1000. Budget Work. $1000. Life style in Miami or just about anywhere in the USA is not a life style to brag about. I think anyone that is in good health should try it rather then live a limited lifestyle or even a very limited life in the USA you/they can alway go back home if it’s not for them. Love your channel and been watching for over ten years some day soon I will travel to Costa Rica and will love to meet you guys. I will definitely contact you before heading your way. Take care

Here is my input from Grecia. My biggest difference is food. I spend at the markets on average $200 a month. I go out to lunch twice a week and it runs about $50 keeping it cheap. It was 3 times a week but prices are going up. You pay a lot more for Caja. The guy making $1100 a month will only pay about 7%. I get by very nicely on $1200 a month. Like you said, it's about need not want. I too don't have a car. Don't need one and if I need to go to San Jose etc Uber is cheap. A friend with a car never hurts. You advise against the guy with $1100 a month trying to make it here but seriously where else can he go? You can't make it in the US with that.
@k10adventures
@k10adventures Жыл бұрын
You can make it in the USA for about $1500 a month if you really needed to. Not counting health insurance but if you really need medical coverage you can get it for free or pretty cheap. I showed some people how they can live on $1500 per month by doing it myself on purpose. You just need to think outside the box, be very frugal and keep a budget and stick to it..

Hi Mike and Everyone! We've lived in the Central Valley for just over a year. For us, expenses balance out; some things are less than we were used to and some things are more. Not owning a home or car saves us a ton of money. We pay, $30 for Internet good enough to work remotely and close to $100 for electricity (HVAC, no; washer and dryer, yes.) Buy local and groceries will be reasonable, but imported items are expensive. We have a post-paid Liberty phone which is super inexpensive. Dog food for a 70 lb. Siberian Husky runs about twice what we paid for it in the US. Our wonderful vet costs us about the same, while our awesome dentist experiences have been very reasonable. Thanks for the great video!

For the person who asked in an earlier comment about having a dog in Costa Rica. It's more difficult, but doable, to find a rental that takes dogs. There are plenty of vets and pet supply stores here. It's the import process that is complicated and expensive.

That is literally the same as my mortgage in California. Main reason to move there is laid back lifestyle and lower cost of living, those prices are not lower than US

Speaking of Airbnb, whatever happened to justice for D’Angelo? Is that crazy woman still in Costa Rica or did she flee the scene?

Great video Mike, I was just in Costa Rica in late October, early November. I love it, it's been 3 years since I've been, stuff is more expensive like here in the U.S. I would love to live there, but would have to find a job online, peace ✌️

Thank you for breaking down the basic living expenses. While I live in Southern Louisiana currently, the thought of moving is becoming a real reality. What I am uncertain at this time about is whether I can still collect my Social Security and live permanently outside the US.

Yikes, you'd be mad to live in Costa Rica and pay those crazy prices when almost every other country in Latin America is cheaper, nicer locals, more culture, nicer nature, better food, etc., etc.

Well, I have been called that before lol. But really, those are the more important variables when choosing where you would like to live... really???? You don't consider the government for example? Much more important variable to consider. AND be fair, Costa Rica is a beautiful country, much nicer than most and the people are extremely nice. Personally, I would put Tico's niceness up against any other culture, any day of the week. The food, carry tabasco ;) And for me, I do live cheap but I understand.

@@TravelCostaRicaNOW Sure, but there are a great leaders e.g. in Mexico and Colombia places with such much better quality of life. Nothing wrong with pretty much any of the governments in Latin America now apart from Milei and he won't affect your life in Argentina really for a while.

I highly recommend everyone here invest in Bullion and cryptocurrency as a back up ! The U.S. dollar ‘debt instrument is dying and sorry to state this here but is fact that can’t be denied. All Rotchild central bankers currencies are dying ! Look at El Salvador 🇸🇻, the president there made cryptocurrency part of its monetary system and paid off its debt and is financially doing much better than Costa Rica 🇨🇷.
