When Dean's show came on TV, it was like having Dean in your house! Little did we realize back then how privileged we were to have this Magnificent Man entertain us weekly! I love Dean Martin so much, so great looking and so much fun! That voice makes you dream about the good times! Jeanne was there for the good and sad times, she shared this great man's heart. She has to be a wonderful person. I saw a photo of Dean when he was near his passing, he was very thin and frail and had gone out to dinner. Barely looked like Dean and it scared me, I just never thought about Dean getting old. But, it happens and then he was gone. Very sad day, I hated to say goodbye to the finest entertainer that America has been graced with! Rest in Peace, beloved Dean Martin.

My Mom and Dad met Dean Martin a few times in Las Vegas. He was a good dancer, Mom said. And of course one of her favorite singers. Mom was a fabulous dancer, a 5'2" red-haired beauty - all the men wanted to swing her around. I asked her once who was her favorite. She thought for a bit and finally said she thought Sammy Davis Jr. might have been the best partner. She also liked dancing with Gene Kelly and Fred Astair. I just looked at her in awe. So THAT'S who she danced with while my sister and I were milking goats back home! Dad was a good dancer, and at 6'5", usually the tallest man in the room... he danced with the female stars, and the gals the male stars were escorting. He was an American Indian (Osage), born in LA, and darkly handsome like most of the men in his tribe. His family was always with show-biz people... his dad was a partner in casinos... once, even a ship moored 5 miles off the coast during the prohibition. Dad was comfortable around everyone. Mom was an auburn Iowa farm girl genius - so she was, too!

I still remember that the "Big 3" of the Rat Pack died sort of close together in time; Sammy in 1990, Dino in 1995 and Ol' Blue Eyes in 1998. The "Dean Martin Show" (1969-1977 or 78?) was one of the most watched, steadily, all the time he was on. I remember some, where I worked, saying they had to get home in time to watch Dean. I saw Frank live in Metro Centre in 1990 (Rockford, Illinois) but never Dean. Dean sang the best songs too...so many I liked ("Welcome to my World" might be my favorite.) shawn Martin It’s generally acknowledged that the death of his son Dean Paul in a plane crash in 1987 broke Deans heart, and he more or less gave up on life after that. He did do occasional shows in Vegas, and Frank talked him into doing one last Rat Pack ‘Together Again ‘ tour with Sammy, but his heart really wasn’t in it anymore so he just walked away and became something of a recluse in his last years, until he finally passed away on Christmas Day 1995. It was a very sad end for a man who had brought such happiness and laughter to so many people for almost half a century.
